Bad Listing Titles
Why are my recent book searches returning some titles that are mainly a string of question marks? Is this a system error, a Chinese scam, or what?

·2 years agoSeriously? Have you accidentally discovered the secret to search?
I may have to revise a few hundred listings!

·2 years ago@maxine*jis probably right - sounds like a font translation error. Not sure how "Chinese scam" would come into it - are the listings all China-based?

·2 years agoIf people are putting emojis in their listing titles, you may be getting the question marks instead of the emojis.
I think it is still against eBay policy to clutter up the place with emojis in titles, but people persist in doing it, using copy-and-paste.

OP2 years agoToday, the question marks appear to have become parentheses. I am looking at listing numbers 256333523163, 266611722596, 266019998027 and many others. These are Chinese Language books and don't appear to have any connection to the ISBN searches I enter. The only thing showing in the title is ( ) Hardcover Very Good, or Good.

·2 years agoThis is simply a seller "error", the listings are being placed before they are complete.
This happens when you have over 2.3 Million listings to manage. In any event the issue you are seeing is only affecting a tiny portion of their listings.
