Bad feedback threatened
I listed 4 pair of shorts, same size, 4 different colors. I have a drop down menu to select color, and offered a discount for purchasing 2, 3 or 4 pair. Client bought one, and when it arrived asked where the other 3 were. I pointed out they were priced each, and that 2 more pair had sold without incident. Buyer leaves a slanderous and defamatory review stating that I deliberately mislead him into thinking he would get all 4 pair for the price of one. I've been selling for over 20 years, and sold in this manner many time with no incident. What would you do? How do I know that they will retract their review if I allow a return? Thanks!

·1 year agoI'd apologize, offer the buyer a 75% refund and consider it a learning experience.

·1 year agoSorry, but I agree with the other's. Once you noticed the error you should have revised the auction and allowed any current bidder or buyer to have a refund automatically.
When I sold a large amount of books in separate auctions and I had to deal with a fire that either destroyed the book or made them smell like they were burnt I refunded all current purchases with the reason and any with books intact but smelled like smoke the option to cancel.
Sometimes you just have to take the hit. I'd offer a refund and ask for a revision. Kind of surprised they allowed negative feedback as often high volume sellers seem to not get them. At least when I leave legitimate with pictures, lol.

Another problem listing I see is the Godinger silver trinket box. You show three in the photo, and the title says three available. But then when you read the description, it says "Vintage GODINGER Silver MCM Trinket Box(es) are a set of three rectangular jewelry boxes" which indicates that the buyer will receive all three.
Why don't you show one trinket box in the photo and then in the quantity available box (which is underneath the item price in the Pricing section when you list), show 3 available? Would simplify things for everyone and could save you a future problem.

In this case, the buyer's feedback was not libelous (slanderous is for spoken falsehoods). The listing (as it was when the buyer made the purchase) WAS misleading.

·1 year agoIf a photo shows 4 pairs...a(dumb) buyer will expect 4 pairs.
And not everyone is fluent in English who buys on eBay and can read but can look at the photos.
iPhone eBay APP does not show description unless you scroll down on item and click on the description...not like the computer that shows everything under the listing.
There's nothing you can do. Just let it go.
Don't reply to the buyer's feedback as well.
The feedback as I read it...buyer will probably not retract it no matter what you do.
if the shipping is high for a return...let the buyer(dumb) just keep it and block them.
I have never known a buyer to change feedback in the short timespan they have when you ask for a revision.
Don't waste your 'revision' on that feedback.

Just helping out ... the Cole Haan C25080 shoes you just listed are clearly not new (lots of scuffing on the soles, and the leather is clearly creased)
I'm guessing you did a "list similar" from the other pair and forgot to change the condition.

·1 year agoI looked at the feedback left by that buyer and didn't see where there was "Bad feedback threatened", just bad feedback.
Did they threaten you with bad feedback in a mesage? If not the title to your thread is kind of misleading.........

·1 year agoIt was a mistake to put word "4 pair" on the title line. Customer thought he was getting "a steal of a deal" at
$19.95 for 4 pairs of new shorts.
You have no choice but accept the return. EBAY 30-Day Money Back Guarantee (supersedes "no returns") and allows customer to return item for "not as described, counterfeit, defective, damaged". If you refuse to "accept return" EBAY will give the customer an "immediate refund" (and allow them to keep your item) and you will be a "defect" against your account.
You can politely ask customer if they will "change feedback". You need to send them a "feedback revision request" and hope for the best.
Consider this a lesson learned. You have to be very careful what you say in your listing as it can be misconstrued.

·1 year agoYou messed up. Picture shows 4 pair and title says 4 pair. As a buyer, I would expect 4 pair. You should offer a return.

This was your error.
As I read the title “Volcom Men’s Shorts Size 32 Assorted Colors (4pair)…
The main photo shows 4 pairs.
and the first line of the description “These Volcom Men’s Shorts in size 32 are a stylish and versatile…â€
It looks to me like you have four pairs and you have four sets, making 16 total pairs available.
I would apologize and send a return shipping label so they could return them.
I would cancel the current listing and create a listing for the last pair.
Edited to add, there are more listings that are set up incorrectly and could result in more disappointed customers.

·1 year agoThe title of your listing says "4 pair".
Of course you're getting 4 pairs.

Wouldn't that mean 8 shorts altogether?

HMMM ?!!?!?

·1 year agoMy title didn't say 8 packs.
Nowhere in my listing said 8 packs.
Nor did I have a picture showing 8 packs.

·1 year agoAnother form of abusing the system, You have no idea that this individual will retract their review, & chances are they will not, Your best bet would have been to offer the return immediately or state that you were sorry for the confusion & refunded the item & let them keep it just to avoid a situation like this., It's unfortunate that we have to deal with customers like this.
