Bad double standard between buyers and sellers
Not only can deadbeat buyers and bidders give sellers negs but they can also slander the seller. Ebay says that is their right. Sellers can't do that. No wonder a lot of good sellers who are also good buyers have left.

How many times are you going to post about this incident?

·1 year agoHm. I didn't catch that this was a chronically redundant post by the OP. I see many of the replies there were basically exactly what I said in mine. I see I have wasted my time here. Have fun everyone!

·1 year agoActually what we are talking about here is libel. Slander is verbal; libel is written.

·1 year agoWhy are those buyers deadbeats, you're the one that didn't ship their orders.

·1 year agoThe feedback system can be a detriment to sellers, ebay believes that the customer has the right to say what they want, But there are buyers who abuse this system & we have to accept it most times, rare when appeals work anymore. I don't know your particular situation, I am just commenting on the system.

You replied to the negatives with an explanation of your medical situation.
If I were a buyer reading your replies, I would not hold those negatives against you.

"Bad double standard between buyers and sellers"
Of course, welcome to ebay.
Depends on what you mean by slander. One neg you have basically says that you didn't send them the item nor responded to messages. I doubt any of that is slander since you confirmed it in your feedback reply. The other neg basically says the same thing as well as an assumption of theirs about your selling practices. I might be nitpicky, but I think the fact that the buyer literally said that they are "assuming" doesn't make it slanderous as it includes doubt. Slander would be if they said "I'm certain the seller decided to sell at a higher price..."
Having said that, this could have been avoided had you communicated to your buyers. You were still free to use your upper body during the 1+ month in the hospital. I'm sure a simple message from a mobile device like "I'm sorry but I have suddenly had to go to the hospital and am currently unable to fulfill my orders or effectively reply to messages. If time is an issue, I'll gladly cancel or refund any order. Otherwise I'll definitely take care of you once I've been discharged and feeling better. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
I've done that about 2-3 times and I've only had maybe 2-3 buyers ask to cancel, the rest understood and waited. And I was making about 40 sales a day. But then again my leave of absence was only about 1.5 weeks at the hospital, not 1+ months. Regardless, I'm sure you could have handled this better.
Also unless I'm missing some facts, your reply to one of the feedbacks about harassment and not knowing your circumstance seems unfair based on the comments. Buyer messaged you (I'm assuming multiple times) during the time you were gone. You didn't reply and they left you a neg. But you said they harassed you. In this situation a buyer sending multiple messages wondering where their item is (during a 1+ month period) is not likely harassment. Any frustration or anger they'll have is very valid as I'm sure many people would do the same. And the only reason why they didn't know your circumstance is because you didn't let them know. Buyers aren't mind readers.
As mentioned earlier, had you let them know (by sending a simple message) much of this could have been avoided. You were in the hospital for a broken leg, you were not mentally incapacitated. Buyers aren't monsters, they do have compassion and many will understand if you have an emergency. You just have to tell them.

·1 year agoIf you get feedback that you deem slanderous- have you appealed using eBay's stated standard? It can be helpful when appealing to cite the ebay rule that is violated

How is not shipping the items slander?

·1 year agoIt's also the reason that so many good buyers have stayed, because sellers weren't able to retaliate against them for reporting the seller's inability to deliver on a transaction.

·1 year agoIs this about the negs when you were in the hospital with a broken leg? Sorry that happened to you, but you've been here long enough to know that Ebay doesnt take any excuses for not shipping the items. You had noone at home that could help you?
