Back in the day there was SAFE HARBOR is there anything like this today?
Where can you report suspicious customers / people that you think are not who they represent themselves to be, so ebay can re-verify their identity?
I don't find a link here anywhere and getting a chat agent is useless and time consuming - you have to fight with that AI and all they want to do is call you on the phone - I prefer chat online.

What if, some reading your post here decides that they should report you, or any one of us, to eBay, just to make eBay reverify the account.
All it takes is one person to complain and eBay sends out the email requiring that user to jump through a bunch of hoops to retain their standing.
If you’re allowed to disrupt their account, that means you could also be nominated for the procedure.

·8 months agoIt seems like all the programs from the old SafeHarbor are still available on eBay, so perhaps only the name was retired.

·8 months ago@krazzykats Oh wow, I had no idea there was actually an eBay thing LABELED SafeHarbor! I thought the OP was just using flowery language for the basic concept of security. 🤣
However, I still don't think anything in that list of tools is what the OP is asking for. For one thing the list appears geared toward buyers fearful of sellers, whereas the OP seems to have the opposite fear. Also it's totally unclear what they mean by wanting eBay to "re-verify" buyers. -Or why. Apparently it has nothing to do with an actual transaction, according to their reply to me (msg #4).

eBay does not verify buyer identities, let alone "re-verify" them.

What is this "safe harbor" you are referring to? I have been here as a buyer and seller since 1999 and I have never heard of it.

·8 months agoIt was an early but not effective form of buyer protection. You could report problems to them but little or nothing ever came of it. It slowly expended and at one point, you could send an item to them for a refund if the seller refused to take it back. There was a dollar limit and it had to weigh under 50 pounds. From there it offered insurance at time of purchase a buyer could buy in case there was a problem with the item. It too had limits.

·8 months agoJust type 'report buyer' into the search bar for 'Help and Contact'. You will get a variety of ways to report them. But don't expect eBay to give you a report on what they found when they looked into it.

·8 months agoHave been here since about 1995, and do vaguely recall "Safe Harbor", but have forgotten details (92 yr old brain).
It doesn't seem like the best idea in the world, however. If you would expect eBay to verify buyers, what criteria would be used, and what guidelines would need to be followed? At a time when eBay needs to encourage buyers, why have a process which could potentially cause a decrease in buyer numbers?

·8 months ago@jufu_6861 Then you need to be more specific on what you mean by "about buyers identity."
If the buyer you're talking about didn't buy an item from you, then what are you talking about, and why does their identity matter to you? If you leave your concern vague, we have no way to offer the advice you seek, in fact for all we know, you saw a buyer's name and believe they are secretly Elvis or Jimmy Hoffa.
Provide details or we can't help you.
