awaiting delivery scan
Should I be worried? Buyer has opened a claim with USPS already asking where the package is. I don't think they are scamming me or anything but anyone have this happen before? Seems like it was "out for delivery" for like 15 mins and then returned to the post office and hasn't moved since?

·3 years agoI have had that before with my mail. Nothing to worry about. Could be weather, mailman issues, maybe normal mailman is off and fill-in decided to have it done by your regular mailman later. Buyer should not have done anything yet. I got two separate packages from Macao today that had tracking but didn't show as delivered today... or out for delivery. Oh, by the way, these packages only took 7 days. I love this seller!

·3 years agoI think with your NO feedback on selling, plus the type of item you sold:
This buyer sees the "DELIVERED" status in limbo and seeing you are not a seasoned seller. He/she is just seeing what your next move may be, even though they likely received it. Like my other reply. In ALL my cases, the postal delivery person did not/ forgot to scan when DELIVERED.
I would of added signature confirmation for $3.80 just to cover all bases.
All the best to you.

OP3 years agoI have no idea, but I don't think the buyer is doing anything beyond just wondering where their package is. They haven't reached out. Recent update, the package is now showing as back in Florida. Not the first time I've seen a package go in and out the delivery state but seriously weird usps activity.

·3 years agoI've had a handful or so with the SAME scenarios, plus a few were packages going to me, which I indeed received, but NO "DELIVERED" scan. ALL the cases the mail person did NOT scan when DELIVERED.
Lots of newbies or just the mail person mentally burnt out from being short staffed of the USPS nationwide. Luckily for me the packages going to the recipients emailed me or responded to my request if they received their packages, and they replied with they did received it. Afterwards, I've checked each tracking number the next day or so and still the "ALERT, awaiting delivery scan".
Unfortunately for you, ME thinks your buyer saw the tracking status as having a no "DELIVERED" status, and thinking I'VE GOT A FREEBIE. Yippee Skippy!!!
Like the others here pointed out, go to your PO and found out where this package is or complete a missing mail.

·3 years agoLooks like a scanning error. That 'Awaiting Delivery Scan' entry is automatically added 18 hours (to the minute) after the Out For Delivery entry occurs. Its supposed to generate alarm bells at the local PO since the carrier apparently took it out for delivery that day but never scanned it as such; thus it SHOULD still be in his possession.
I dont know what to make of that stray Arrived at Post Office entry but Im wondering if someone managed to transpose the settings on their scanner: setting it for 'Out For Delivery' when they should have used 'Arrived at Post Office' and vice-versa. However - that should not have affected a final Delivered scan which seems to be just plain missing. (I dont suppose the address was to a PO Box...?)
The carrier needs to answer some questions about what happened. Until its finally scanned as Delivered you are still on the hook for a possible Item Not Received refund. If you do have to refund see if you can get the package intercepted (should it reappear) and returned to you:

OP3 years agoI think you're right and that it may have been scanned in error. The original estimated delivery date was for Wednesday. I guess I'll know in a couple days what happens next. The buyer has an inquiry open but haven't been notified about any missing packages yet. Was to a residential home also.

·3 years agoIs this one of those ESUS shippments? I have seen this on my shipments. They usually deliver the next day.

·3 years agoNot likely. The screenshot is from USPS.com showing traditional tracking scans.
eBay Standard Envelope is metered mail and those scans don't show up on the USPS site.

·3 years agoI'd go to USPS.com and hit contact us at the bottom of the page. Then use the email us option.
You will be prompted to enter the tracking number, package info, buyer address, shipper address.
This will open up an inquiry with the buyer's local PO. They usually close out those inquiries almost immediately, but they will investigate to see if they still have the package or what's going on. Sometimes they will call with an update other times they won't. But in my experience it's worth filing the inquiry.
If the package does not receive a delivery scan and the buyer opens an INR (item not received) claim, you will be responsible for refunding.
What class of mail was used - was the package insured? Priority comes with up to $100 of included insurance for lost packages.
