Authentication Taking a Week (maybe more)
Summary: anagonzalez_165 is concerned about a delay in the authentication of a high-value card, which has been at a center for over a week without updates. They ask others for insight into how long the authentication process took for their items.
So I don't do a lot of selling, mostly buying. However, I recently sold a card for $800 and I know it automatically goes to eBay Authentication. I sent it out next day via Priority and got delivered in 2 days. The card was delivered to PSA on 9/24 and it's been a week now with no updates. Everything I read in the eBay forums, see online, all say it's supposed to take 1-2 biz days. My question is, has anyone else experienced the authentication taking so long? Is there anything I can do to check the status?

·2 weeks agoHow long did it end up taking. Mine was shipped 11 days ago, picked up 8 days ago and has been at the center for 6+ days now. Tomorrow morning at 3am will be a a full week there. It’s a high value card in the low 4 digits, but a WEEK already with no update besides “arrived at location center”. It’s nerve wracking. When did yours finally get authorized? Thanks in advance.

·11 months agoTwo weeks ago I had my first experience sending a card to Ebay authentication in NJ, they completed the process in 2 days after receipt. They found a defect which was shown in the image but not itemized, notified the buyer who responded on a Friday and it shipped to him the following Monday.
They identified the defect as minor, and the process was smooth overall.
I will be more diligent in itemizing all defects.

·11 months agoTrading card authentication is currently backed up @monsternomnom . As of a week ago they were approx 3 weeks behind. Not sure what the status is today.
Just give it time - they'll get to it eventually. Nothing you can do but wait it out.

·11 months agoI don't think there is much that can be done to get certifying done any faster.
It is just a patience game.
Sometimes I think they don't have enough people.

·11 months agoDon't want to go further with 'taking a Week' but I assume you realize infrequent or new sellers usually wait 30 days for funds to be released...so you might not see your funds until after October 21.
But I am sure you already know this.

OP11 months agoThat makes sense, but why wouldn't they still proceed with the authentication? Ebay says the authentication is only supposed to take 1-2 days so now the buyer is having to wait a month because I'm a new seller? I'm more worried that the authentication is almost at two weeks with no progress.

·11 months agoThe authentication process is not placed on hold, it is entirely separate from your payment hold.
Many sellers and buyers have reported waiting over a week for the authentication process, however. That does not yet sound unusual, and there's not really anything you can do right now.
