Aust. Post Parcel Insurance doesn't work for ebay Sellers
Australia Post Parcel & extra Insurance does not work with ebay policy on buyer refunds.
The $100 Insurance and extra Insurance on Parcel Post for ebay sellers is a waste of money. If an item is damaged during shipment ebay rules, the buyer doesn't have to bring to the nearest post office to log the issue they can request a refund via ebay and it is expected the seller will reimburse in full. THE SELLER CANNOT MAKE A CLAIM ON THE POSTAL INSURANCE. The buyer needs to take the damaged item and parcel to the nearest Post Office for staff to check and raise a claim. If the buyer will not do this then you lose the sale, the postage plus the cost of the item. It would be great if ebay could address this issue.

I agree.
I often wonder what people think they are insuring against when they buy postal insurance.
Not damage in shipping. Most damage is caused by poor packaging, which is the sender's responsibility.
Not delay in delivery. Most services have very generous delivery periods even longer than eBay's.
And shippers, including the postal system, will bag up parcels they have damaged themselves and add a Notice about what happened and what the receiver should do.
I'm a strong proponent of Cookie Jar Insurance.
Add a few pennies to every shipping charge to cover the occasional loss or delay.
If the customer demands a refund, pay from the Cookie Jar.
Most sellers find CJI to be a profit centre.
Unless the insurance is automatically included as part of the service, don't opt for it.
