Are you protected as the seller if the buyer uses a stolen credit card and it does not bounce
I have had some suspicious people try to buy an item from me and they said that the payment was not going through and they would need to talk to their bank about it tomorrow. (tomorrow was a Sunday so the bank would have been closed and they started acting really suspicious). I then canceled the order and before I could block them they messaged me saying they would purchase it from another eBay account. They bought it and I went to cancel it because I felt like it was a scam especially when they had two eBay accounts. This got me thinking about what if he was hacking bank accounts or credit cards and this is why the payment wasn't going through. So my question is if someone used a stolen credit card to buy an item and I had no way of knowing because the payment went through and did not bounce before shipping was due, would I be protected as the seller or would I be out the money and the item that was shipped?
What things can I do to prevent this from happening?

·2 years agoI don't see anything wrong with using two accounts.
The first account they tried, was it a newer account and what about the second account?
It could be the their buying limit on the first account was to low and wouldn't let them pay.

No seller is protected against not as described claims, stolen credit card or not.
