Are freight-forwarders allowed for buyers to use on eBay?

I’ve been scammed before of a item of high value by a buyer that used a freight forwarding service. I researched and realized the buyer loses their protection if they used the service. I more than proved the address was in fact a freight forwarding service yet I lost the case. If I get another order to a freight forwarding address, am I allowed to cancel it and I will not get a defect for it?
