Approved offers that don’t complete.
So far I’ve had two approved offers completely disappear with the transaction never going through. It seems it goes through, with it saying “Awaiting Paymentâ€. When I go back to my seller dash board there’s no sale. Even several minutes after there’s nothing. Is this an issue anyone else is having? If it was just one, I’d think it was a fluke. But two offer sales in a row? That has to be a bug. I’ve made regular sales in between the failed offer sales.

Your settings require a buyer to put up a payment source in order to make an offer at all. If they do make and offer and you accept, the buyer will be auto-billed and the item paid for immediately. It will NOT go to any "awaiting payment" file since they are already supposed to be paid for.
UNLESS
If you are accepting a COUNTER offer, these will remain for sale until someone buys it.

OP10 months agoThey weren't counter offers. All accept offers prior to these 2 have gone through in seconds of accepting their offer. I've changed no settings.

Ok, so if they are not COUNTER offers you accepted, then there are only two other possibilities that I know about.
First, there have been occasional "lapse" times reported by others in the recent past. The posting will often "catch up" so to speak in a couple of hours.
OR
The buyer's payment source failed. eBay will not tell you this. An example of a "failed payment" would be if the buyer's available balance was not enough to cover the charge. In this case, the buyer will be told of the 'failure' and directed to pay again with another method. In the meantime, you are not getting paid. A buyer can choose "PayPal" in order to proceed in the beginning, but when time to hit it for the auto-pay payment and their is no credit card available, a PayPal balance, bank account, and a few of the other options will not be allowed.
In the beginning of this mess, eBay would charge the buyer's payment source for the full amount of the offer BEFORE an offer was even accepted. This resulted in a "authorization charge" that stayed on the buyer's account for many days even if the offer was declined. The buyer could not use this money, not even to make a higher offer because due to the authorization, there was even less money available.
If the offer was accepted, the buyer still had the payment charge AND the authorization charge. Though the authorization charge was supposed to be removed, it was not in a timely fashion and the buyer could still not use the money still under "authorization". Thus the buyer had two charges, thus lowering their available funds.
I think now eBay just 'pings' the card, to see if it is valid, but not necessarily for an available balance. Then when it is time to tap it for the auto-pay, and there isn't enough money, the payment will fail.

So you're saying they haven't moved to 'Awaiting shipment'? Were the offers to/from the same (potential) buyer?

OP10 months agoYes, in a way. They are not showing as a sale at all. It’s been over an hour. There’s no order. It’s too much of a coincidence for 2 approved offer order, in a row, to completely disappear. They are not showing as an order awaiting payment.

eBay has made some changes to offers. When a seller accepts an offer the buyer is notified and instructed to pay. The item is not sold until the buyer actually pays. This is why it is not in your sold items. This is more like the way buy it now with immediate payment works. Since the item is not sold until payment and still active another buyer can purchase at full price. This information is also in the payment message the buyer receives.
This is meant to cut down on sellers having items removed from sale while waiting on a buyer to pay and then having to relist if they don't. Item continues to be listed until paid for.

OP10 months agoSo they've technically have caused me to lose 2 sales because the buyers don't know they now have to approve the transaction twice. I really hope this wasn't a seller-initiated change.

A sale is not complete until the buyer pays so there is no lost sale. Under both the old way (item becomes sold and is removed from sale) and the new way (item is still available for sale) the buyer receives a message telling them their offer was accepted and they need to pay.
If buyer pays the sale is complete in both options.
If buyer does not pay with the old way the seller has to wait 4 full days before they can cancel the sale for non-payment and has to relist the item. With the new way the item remains for sale. The seller does not have to cancel and relist plus the item is still available for another buyer to purchase at full price.
Sellers have the option to require a buyer to enter a payment method before they can make an offer, if the offer is accepted they are charged automatically. You can turn that option on in your buyer requirements settings.

The OP retains the buyer rules for auto-pay. Any offer accepted by the seller would be paid for immediately each time. There should be no "item remains for sale" when the seller accepts the buyer's offer. That is supposed to initiate the instant payment from the buyer's method they selected in order to make the offer at all. The buyer doesn't need to be around for eBay to snag the money for auto-pay.
The ones that remain for sale are:
Offers a seller sends
Counter offers a seller accepts.
Buyer offers a seller declines or ignores
If the seller turns the "buyer rules" to OFF. They can encourage multiple offers from the same buyer since the buyers can accept, not be auto-billed, and combine multiples for one shipping price, and ONE non-refundable 40 cent transaction fee instead of multiple charges.
The OP @slresale12 is wondering why that didn't happen.

·10 months agoFor an offer to be completed the buyer must pay for the item first and the item stays active. You may find that the item is still available. So no it will not be in your orders.
