Anyone ever get feedback from someone who never bought your item??
First time this happened for me. But I did once get bad feedback from someone in another country and that is not supposed to happen when you are in the international shipping program.

·4 months agoI set up a combined order for a buyer, after 5 Days I messaged to let them know the order would be cx'ed after 5 days, and buyer THEN asked to pay 'next week' so I cancelled the unpaid invoice after 5 days
and they left negatives on each.
They're the only negs I've gotten recently and really the only ones that were undeserved.
A buyer needs to ask first if the seller will wait 2 weeks for payment. not halfway through the time period.

·4 months agoI would have thought you could have had those removed on the basis of a UPI.

·4 months agoHere are two theoretical buyers
Buyer 1
a) Completes check out and the seller receives a payment
b) The payment appears on the seller's Managed Payment screen
c) The payment will appear on any sales reports downloaded and on the 1099-K form issued in late January of 2027
Buyer 2
a) Completes check out and the seller receives a payment
b) The payment appears on the seller's Managed Payment screen
c) The payment will appear on any sales reports downloaded and on the 1099-K form issued in late January of 2027
Steps a), b) and c) are the same for both buyers and recorded for posterity.
d) The seller issues a refund from a cancellation or an Out-Of-Stock situation
e) The seller issues a refund for a return for Not as Described and Remorse reasons.
f) The seller issues a refund for a lost/damaged package. They get reimbursed from the carrier through insurance coverage.
Steps d), e) and f) do not erase the earlier steps. They increase the paper trail to show an eventual refund.
eBay, the bank handling your checking account that receives payments and the IRS would all Disagree that your buyer 'never bought your item'.

·4 months agoYes - a buyer recently purchased and immediately asked to cancel because the size was not the size they actually needed and they discovered this after hitting BIN (which happens) - they then left feedback about the experience of being able to cancel the transaction. That buyer is also trying out selling and we had a few exchanges in messages about ebay in general and about selling, etc, so I guess the buyer was just giving feedback on our interaction, which is perfectly fine in a world where ambiguous feedback can really ruin a seller's mood.
If it wasn't bad feedback, I wouldn't even worry about it.

·4 months agoNow that we know the buyer asked to cancel, it's yes, they never DID buy the item for they canceled the sale. Thus, no sale.

OP4 months agoYes, you are correct NO SALE! BUT he did leave the feedback anyway and eBay let him. It just got removed this morning because even though eBay is unsure, You can't leave feedback if there is NO SALE!

·4 months agoEbay permits feedback for cancelled sales, but some do qualify for removal. Just cancelling, though, does not block feedback since it was a sale. Had you merely decided to cancel on your own without the buyer requesting it, the feedback would remain. A cancelled sale is still considered a sale, as explained earlier, that is why they could leave feedback to begin with.

·4 months agoWas this sale under a different ID? I don't see any negative feedback for the account you used to post here.

OP4 months agoThat's because it just got removed.

·4 months agoif they bought something from you even if it was canceled, it's still a sale. your titled thread is implausible.
Some random person cannot just leave you a review. there was some type of transaction between you and them.

·4 months agoIt's most likely the same buyer that uses a different store name, which eBay allows. I got confused on that one as well once.

OP4 months agoNo it is not. He cancelled an order and then was still able to leave feedback

·4 months agoDid the buyer send a formal cancellation request through the system, or did they just message you asking to cancel? If they messaged you, what reason did you use for the cancellation?
Cancelling an order doesn't always automatically block feedback from being left, but it can often be removed depending on the feedback. I don't see any feedback currently on your account that looks like it would be from that, though.

OP4 months agoThey messaged me and of course I put buyer asked to cancel.
They finally removed it today because you cannot leave feedback if you did not buy anything!

·4 months agoFor a buyer to cancel, they have to ORDER SOMETHING FIRST.
And if they ORDER SOMETHING they can LEAVE FEEDBACK.
Cancelling does not remove the buyer's ability to leave feedback.
Hopefully you learned something today.

·4 months agoFrom the looks of things ... no ... I don't think he did. 😉

·4 months agoYou can't get a refund on something unless you BUY it first.
Why is that so hard for you to understand?

·4 months agoYou have to buy the item before you can cancel, so he did in fact buy something from you.
I don't know where you're getting this...

·4 months agoYour title says they never bought your item, but apparently they did, if they ask to cancel the order.
