·2 years agoIt was dark here today, anyway, so not sure anyone would have noticed.

·2 years agoMade the trip up to Montreal where a friend has a rooftop terrace on the 14th floor and was not disappointed.
Traffic WAS a nightmare, cabs and buses stuck in the gridlock.
Almost made it to 20 000 steps, blisters on both feet and a sunburn on my face (eyes are safe).
Still 10/10 would absolutely do it again.

·2 years agoNowhere near it in San Francisco....but so sunny without a cloud in the sky...

·2 years agoIt didn't get exceptionally dark in my city, but I was only in 99% totality. According to google maps, there was some pretty heavy traffic on the main arteries through Burlington and Hamilton (where I go to drop off packages for the US). That was mid afternoon.
I went home and took a long nap after packing a bunch of orders tonight.

·2 years agoIn my area, the eclipse turned out to be a non-issue. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, I suppose.
weather even cooperated in central Ohio - almost clear skies, low 70’s 🙂

·2 years agoWell a solar eclipse is fun, but it is a rather frequent occurrence. If you really want something special Venus, Neptune, Saturn and Mars will all be in alignment on April 4 (tomorrow). Best seen in the northern hemisphere.
Now for the purists, all 8 won't align until May 6, 2492. Save the date.

·2 years agoWe are directly in the path and it has been on the news constantly! Have the glasses and ready to watch from the comfort of my own backyard. I live in a sleepy town, but with it all over the news, I expect extra traffic. Schools are closed--surprised it isn't a shipping holiday!

·2 years agoI made a big long post about that a day or so ago...
I've decided I'm not shipping Monday.

·2 years agoWe're in the path in Dallas, TX, but today we saw it's supposed to be over cast April 8th.
Will have to wait and see if the weather forecast changes between now and then.

·2 years agoI'm directly in the path, but I have a 2 day shipping time so anything selling say on Friday has until Tuesday (and will ship on Saturday anyway)

·2 years agoeBay should do that for those areas.
I'm curious to see how or when our mail carrier gets here.

OP2 years agoi am surrounded by wineries and state parks .. and 2 lakes .. so gonna extend handling time

·2 years agoI sure would extend shipping time and particularly not count on USPS pickup at homes......never hurts to be proactive on something like this.......

·2 years agoWe have friends camping in some sleepy areas in Arkansas for it. After getting off the interstate, you have to use mostly two-lane roads to get there. Those roads are busy on typical summer weekends. Can't imagine them, or the tiny towns along the way that they connect, serving the hundreds of thousands of people that are expected this weekend.
They'll run out of everything, especially gas. At least the weather is supposed to be beautiful, and they can enjoy it as they crawl along. I do love that the places along the floating rivers will see good business this early in the year. We're usually with the early-birds when we go in May.
But to your question, I'm a few hours away, so won't be affected. Sellers in those remote towns would probably want to extend shipping to Tuesday.

OP2 years agoi am in a tiny "town" in a very rural county and the emergency management office has warned of major traffic issues .. i work at a gas station and we have been told to have our storage tanks full and topped off ....
and i ordered extra beer just in case 😛

My little hometown was at ground zero during Fall, 2017. Your way is what worked for us! 🙌

ETA: Here's a site with maps and interesting data.
We're way out of range up here in NW Washington.

·2 years agoYES NW Pa gonna see the Total Eclipse here... Up in Erie they are selling hotel rooms for $1000.00 a night!

·2 years agoI’m in the path - and it never occurred to me to change anything. I doubt that traffic will be a nightmare in sleepy Powell, Ohio.

·2 years agoWe are outside of Cleveland....considering the Women's NCAA is going on as well as the Guardians Home Opener as well as a Solar Eclipse.....
This could get ugly around here.....

I wouldn't bet on that. I was in central Illinois during the last one. We came home up interstate 55 from Carbondale Illinois to a small town in central Illinois. Most of the way home traffic looked like the picture I posted in a previous response.
I remember well sitting at a dead stop on I-55 for about 15 minutes just outside of a town called Funks Grove. Google that one. 🙂

·2 years agoYep, I assume that there will be plenty of traffic from those on I-71, going from Columbus (or farther south) to the Cleveland area. People traveling for the eclipse won’t want to stop in my area - better to drive another 90 minutes to hit the center of the path.
Thankfully, Powell isn’t on an exit from any highway 🙂 and I’m staying local - taking my kids and partner to the zoo, weather permitting, which is in Powell.

·2 years agoI am not in the path this time but I was in Carbondale, Illinois in 2017, drove 150 miles with my daughter and family to watch the eclipse. About a 3 hour drive down, close to 15 hours going home and that was on Interstate 55.
