ANYONE ACTUALLY HAD STOLEN MONEY BY FEDEX RETURNED TO THEM??
Summary: rosemary6525 shared their frustration about a FedEx experience where a package was deemed larger than its actual size, resulting in an overcharge. They mentioned speaking with multiple eBay customer service representatives who promised a refund, but the waiting time kept extending. shire123 expressed skepticism about FedEx intentionally inflating package sizes, suggesting instead that boxes can naturally change dimensions. onefootflipper questioned the value of pursuing a claim over $11, while duffy4444 advised always overestimating package dimensions and weights for shipping accuracy and expressed distrust in eBay's customer service. Additional comments touched on the relationship between package dimensions and shipping charges.
More than a month ago, FEDEX claim a 2.5 inch tall package was 4" YES 4 That pushed the dimensional total over and I got robbed of $11 I have photos of package and it is not close. I have spoken to THREE ebay customer service rep and ALL said I would getting a refund. Each pushed date back and now they is telling me up to 29 business days for refund. BTW a fairly knowledgeable rep said it was an automated process for sorting. SO basically FEDEX set their sorting machines to ADD to the size of packages to bump up profits. Sort of like a gas pump that gives you .9 gallons instead of a true gallon I am beginning to wonder if they are just blowing me off and I AIN'T GETTIN NUTHIN

·2 weeks agoWhile I am aware that there are serious issues with additional charges from Fedex and UPS, I think what you have stated is a bit over the top and highly likely to be inaccurate.
What the heck about the gas pumps. Are you talking about because their price is always stated to be something like $3.99 and 9/10ths. That doesn't mean you get 9/10th of a gallon, it means you are paying $3.999 [3.99 & 9/10ths]for that gallon. Price and actual measurement of the product you are purchasing are two different things. The 9/10ths is of a PENNY.

·3 weeks agoI use FedEx almost daily for my larger packages. I have yet to get an additional charge as I NEVER go by the dimensions on the box but actually measure each box and ALWAYS round up. And if the dimension is close to the next whole number I round up the next number, Example, a 14.8 inch box gets reported as 16 inches.
Same thing with weights. If a box weighs 2 pound 14 ounces, it gets reported as 3 pounds 3 ounces.
I use FedEx for my larger items as the USPS Ground Advantage charges are often around $100 but the FedEx charges are about $40. So I save on average about $60.
Now I do charge buyers shipping but I do believe by having that lower charge on my items I get more sales. Which would you buy? A $100 item + $100 shipping or a $100 + $40 shipping?

·3 weeks ago · EditedALWAYS generously add more to both the weight and the dimensions of your shipping box or envelope. And never trust the manufacturer's dimensions printed on the bottom of the box. At best, those are internal dimensions, not external dimensions that FedEx, UPS and USPS go by. Possible bulges in the shipping container only make things worse.
NEVER trust what you are told by any eBay "customer service rep". They will tell you anything they think you want to hear, just to get you off the phone. Sad, but true, as confirmed by constant complaints on this forum.
Cheers, Duffy

OP3 weeks agoSadly u are probably correct and I just shipped a package thru FEDEX for company I work for dimensions 13x9x3 and weigh 12 oz and when it came up it says "CHARGEABLE WEIGHT" 2.3lbs WTF???????????????????? tiny package and they are billing it at tripple weight
shire123
·3 weeks ago@rosemary6525 Weight and package dimensions are interrelated. You cannot look at one without the other. Once a dimension of a box goes beyond 12 inches the actual weight probably is not used for charge determination.
From your post it seems you got this shipped at your business and not ebay.
A business account may operate under different rules?

·3 weeks agoTin foil hat time. I don't believe that fedex sets their machines to increase size of packages in order to increase profits.
Given that so many people put the wrong size of the boxes into their calculators, FedEx may have been forced to up the numbers.
So many sellers swear by the printed dimensions on boxes. Those dimensions are NEVER the actual shipping dimensions.
A change from 2.5 inches to 4 inches is not that incredible. A box can bulge/flex/bend, etc to go from 2.5 to 3.1 very easily. Once it gets to 3.1 then it must be reported as 4 inches.
