Any buyer scams out there?
Hello,
I have just sold a vintage barbie fold n fun house, but I noticed that the buyer is from the Czech Republic, no transactions, just joined eBay in June of this year. I'd feel horrible if this was a legit buyer, but if I ship this to the Glendale heights IL address for freight forwarding, and it's a scam buyer, how do I protect getting the funds as I know I'll never see the item again?
Thanks!!!

·2 years agoAs others have pointed out, you're actually BETTER PROTECTED sending that item to the Czech Republic via ebay's EIS than if it were being shipped across the street.
Relax and enjoy the holidays!

·2 years agoEbays EIS international shipping program is the best thing ebay has ever done for sellers. I use it for all international sales and give ebay 5 Stars. The rest of ebay might suck but not EIS.

·2 years agoHere's the thing about "freight forward". It will reach Glendale Heights, IL. hopefully no snow will be there at that time(Chicago). It might sit there awhile. Buyer can't do anything other than say where is my item...it is taking a long time. If it goes EIS then you are covered for feedback and can have it removed. You are dealing with a new eBayer so expect an email why is it taking so long to get to Czech Republic. Can buyer get a refund if it is delayed by weeks? That is one question hopefully others here can answer.
If item hits Glendale Heights and states "in transit to next facility arriving late"...never mentioning the word "delivered" or it states "moving through network" but again no word of "delivered" in Glendale Heights....are you covered? Another question others here have to answer.
I have such tracking stating that of packages from February and October...they have not stated "delivered" and still stating those statements.
Just things that can happen and give a seller a tiny headache.
If it’s going to Glendale Heights Illinois then you are shipping with eBays international shipping program not to a freight forwarding service.
Just ship as you would to any other buyer. Once the package is delivered to the shipping hub in Glendale Heights your job is complete, then eBays international shipping program takes over.

OP2 years agoI feel a lot better. I've never had a buyer so new to the site and yet so very far away. Thank you all and Happy Holidays to you!!!

If you ship thru a freight forwarder, buyers loose their 30 money back guarantee. Chances are this person may very well want what your selling, but can't get it in the Czech republic. Not all buyers are scammers. If you feel uneasy about this transaction, cancel the sale citing address issues. It's up to you. In the past I have shipped overseas and never had a problem. All my buyers were happy with their purchases and left good feedback too. Again, this is your call.
Happy Holidays.

·2 years agoIt's not a run-of-the-mill, third-party freight forwarder (though I've never had a problem with those anyway); it's the eBay International Shipping center. The only address involved is that of eBay.
@ckimodog it’s not a freight forwarder it’s eIS the shipping hub in Glendale Heights, the buyer doesn’t loose MBG protection to ship with eIS.
@allmine22
Its ok to ship to that address in Glendale Heights, Illinois, I’ve shipped there several times with no issues.
Happy Holidays.

·2 years agoIts considered complete once you get it to eBay. Any issues after that they cover. I have sold several items over seas this ways and any issues where taken care of by eBay.

·2 years agoGlendale Heights is an eBay International Shipping consolidation center. You just need a domestic label to ship to that address, and once tracking confirms delivery there, eBay takes responsibility for the international delivery. If eBay is showing that the buyer has paid and it's time to ship, then send it out.

·2 years agoOnce it gets to the ebay forwarder it becomes their problem. They handle all complaints and returns from that point. I have never had an issue with anything I ever sent there.
