Another seller using my photos and description.
I just found that another seller is selling an item just like I sold about a month ago. They are not the one who bought my item. I see that they are using my photos and item description. How can they do this? Is my security at risk? And, is this okay with Ebay's policies?

·1 month agoYes, it's OK with Ebay.
No, your security isn't at risk.
You never know, the buyer could have a different selling account.

·1 month ago · EditedNo your security is not at risk. Yes it's okay with eBay, in fact they make it EASY to copy someone else's listing. Have you never noticed the "Sell one like this" underneath the photo section of every listing?
Now, if your item was one of a kind, like handmade or used with specific condition flaws, then it could be the exact same one that you sold, but that is fine too. Did that order happen to be an EIS one, and if so, did it get returned to eBay, or fail to ship beyond the Illinois hub, due to some kind of restriction in the buyer's country?

OP1 month ago · EditedYes, that is what happened. The item couldn't be shipped to the buyer's country, so Ebay cancelled the sale. I never knew what happened to the item.

·1 month agoEbay shouldn't allow the sale to go through. But they do, then email you to not ship it after it's been shipped days later. Ebay is part of the scam.

·1 month agoThat's not a scam and you are never responsible for cancelling a sale after you have shipped. Also it has nothing to do with what this thread is about.

·1 month ago@mister_stuff eBay stated that in some cases where a sale has to be cancelled through EIS they'll refund and sell the item themselves.
What was the account name?

It tripped me out the first time I encountered what you're seeing. But it's totally above-board. eBay liquidates those non-forwardable items to the Michigan company (probably at a discount since the company has to just accept big pallets of who-knows-what) -BUT eBay also gives them all the data from the original listings, namely the photos, title and description.
I have even ordered from them a few times! From what I could tell, they didn't even open the packages; they still had the original sellers' thank-you cards and stuff in them, ha.
But you don't have to have special privileges to copy listings, like I said before. -EVERYBODY on eBay is allowed to use each others photos, descriptions, etc.

·1 month agoOh, sorry. I don't know if it counts as "shaming" (they're okay by me):

·1 month agoYeah basically all categories, and you can tell as soon as you see the page that it's photos taken by thousands of people in a thousand different settings.
The other seller ShipCycle that I've seen some claim are also eBay liquidation resellers -I just checked them out for the first time a few days ago. I don't know if they get any of it from eBAy, but I don't think exclusively and it looks like they do a lot (or all?) of their own photos (I saw the same woodblock table top a lot). @chapeau-noir
