Anecdotal tale of way to increase sales that worked for me
Summary: shire123, a seller in the collectible toys and books categories, shared their experience of reviving sales by ending all listings instead of using Time Away during a vacation. Upon return, they relisted around 50 items daily while revising and reducing prices by 5-10%. This strategy resulted in a significant increase in sales, with 38 transactions and $5500 in revenue over six days. They acknowledged that this method may not suit everyone but found it successful and might consider repeating it in the future.
I sell largely in the collectible toys categories with some books and miscellaneous collectibles. Generally run about 400 listings. Towards the last part of summer I did see a slow down in sales as I was not listing nearly as many new things. I went on vacation for awhile towards the end of August and decided to end my listings rather than put them on Time Away. My reasoning was that when I got back I would then be able to better revise anything that needed to be revised.
So I got back and started relisting around 50 items a day. I relisted rather than used sell similar which has been suggested in the past. I did revise a few listings and did drop prices on some items about 5-10%. To date my results have been very nice. Sales have picked up nicely and items that had been sitting around for 6 months or more flew off the shelf. In the last 6 days I have had 38 sales with a gross value of $5500.
This method would probably not work for many sellers but I sure can't argue with my results. Maybe in 6 months or so I might repeat the process.
