Am I wrong for thinking this seller is kinda dumb?
Item asking price $20 or best offer + $15 shipping.
Of course I don't want to pay full price if the seller may take less.
I offer $17.
The seller counters back at $19.85.
Why even accept best offers if your lowest price is 15 cents below your asking price?
I declined and put "15 cents off?" in the comments.

·2 years agoUnless offers were 'added' by ebay and seller has already set up the listing at their 'lowest price' that they could, then it makes sense (the .15c).
If they 'willingly' did the 'offer' thing- then the elevator does not even make it to the 2nd Floor.....

That's less than a 1% discount, .7% to be exact.

·2 years agoAdding comments when declining an offer may be a lil dumb because a seller would only see those if they actually went in to access their offers page and review the declined offer specifically. Something I've got mixed feelings about overall.
Multi quantity listing? May they be accepting offers on bulk purchases?

·2 years agoOh, that's if the seller even reads them ... I didn't even think about that ...
I have had buyers decline unsolicited offers (so the buyer is anonymous to me) and they write in there something like "Let me know if you'll take $X"
-Buyer is anonymous to me
-Buyer wrote comments on decline of offer so I don't see unless I randomly go digging for those comments.

I automatically accept anything at a 20% discount or less.
If the offer is really low ... I check to see if they're right, if not, I respond thusly:
"I looked on eBay and some third-party sites. Mine is the second lowest priced in eBay, and in much better condition. The other sites were twice my price. Where did you get your opinion of value? Where did you find it for less than $10? Did they have more than one? - I want to buy some at that price."

I think some Sellers allow Offers to get better placement (search results) from the algorithm. I HATE when sellers do that.
Maybe a mistake.
Message them and ask if it was a mistake. They might have lowered their price after listing it a while ago. I didn't think you could allow/accept offers less than a 3% or 5% discount (something like that).

But that could be with shipping of $15.00. I know it sounds crazy but crazy things happen here.
Did you address the shipping plus the cost of item?
And yes, I had a buyer who asked for .15 off and I gave it to him....strange...to even ask....I thought buyer might become perhaps a 'repeat buyer'...nope never happened...and no feedback either. LOL.

·2 years agoLately, when I list a new item, eBay defaults it to "best offer". I have to watch and turn it off but sometimes I overlook it.

·2 years agoYeah it kinda sucks but sometimes BO was added when the price was higher.
When people send an offer it shows a zip code.
I base offers on that a lot of the times since but that's because I offer free shipping that doesn't really apply here. However, a zone 1 costs me less so I can offer deeper discount, whereas zone 8 costs me more so I can offer less.
Some people add it to manipulate search as a form to make the algorithm favor them more.
If an offer comes in I check market and will typically undercut lowest. If I'm already the lowest I will only give small.

I agree 15 cents off is really cheezie. But counter offers sent to you now would be IPR, so he would get paid faster.
Sounds like the seller either just wants to play games or really doesn't want a sale.

·2 years agoOP is also a full time seller. Just pay the $20 if you need the item. Sometimes BIN mysteriously shows up on listings. Don’t complain about cheap buyers when you hold the same sentiment.
