All I can say is...Wow...
I seldom post here, but this just made my jaw drop open. I had no idea this is happening. Perhaps I spend too much time with the kids. Anyway, it totally makes sense why ebay is cracking down hard on sellers who sell questionable merchandise here.
Again...Wow...what a mess!

·3 years agoThis has been happening everywhere for quite a while now. I mean I see people steal stuff at my local walmart and grocery store all the time. I want to say something every time but I am afraid of being assaulted. Store clerks are told to do nothing about it.

You've actually seen this happen? Seriously, you can outright steal and stores do not prosecute or arrest? This is terrible. My guess is the stores are afraid that if one of the thieves are injured in their stores from being lawfully reprimanded, the lawsuits filed may out weight the cost of the merchandise. What a joke! The world has definitely gone mad!

·3 years agoCalifornia law stipulates 6 months in jail and $1,000 fine for shoplifting but that hasn't stopped the thieves at all. Police will not respond if store calls them about shoplifting (don't want to be bothered and it is dangerous for store clerks to intervene).
Good news...California police recovered $18 MILLON merchandise stolen from railroad cars. Also they have recovered tons of stolen merchandise from storage units. I guess now they have to figure out which stores it belongs to.
Crime is rampant in California because we have new "catch & release" law (nobody has to pay bail money). Law was created because they believed "bail payment" law was unfair to poor people (rich people could easily pay bail and poor people had to rot in jail waiting for their trial).
Problem with "catch & release" it is the same people are immediately released and commit crimes over & over again. Honestly, I believe they should repeal this law (turned out to be a huge mistake).

·3 years agoCalifornia also releasing something like 7,000 to 8,000 pedophiles some only in prison for a few months. These animals murdered, raped, and abused kids.

California My Home State, if it were a country on it's own would be the 8th Largest Economy on the Planet!! Of course I would never advocate for that because I worry about the opinion of the Twenty Three (23) states our taxes subsidize and carry annually!
But Still, if we were on our own and cut the dead weight, just think about all the monies we could poor into our "catch and release" pedophile program!

·3 years ago#1 I think those phones have GPS tracking. #2 - there is a risk that a customer would get hurt if the thieves are stopped. #3 - The thieves from what I saw didn't have "weapons" and if there was a guard with a gun and he shot them, the guard would be sued.....unfortunately.
The laws are screwy, but it's life over property.
Now this is what Apple stores COULD do -- electronically lock the doors. I don't know if their doors require a key, but what if there was a "switch" that locked the doors automatically and thieves couldn't get out?

·3 years agoNot a good idea as the thieves may very well then harm customers or staff.
A few years ago a friend of mine who was a manager for a Rite Aid lost his life pursuing a guy who stole a carton of smokes. Not worth it.

·3 years agoOur stores in Chi have locks on some items like cold meds and Tide detergent. The liquor is not locked, but I think it will be. You have to take the locked box to the cashier to have it unlocked. Sad world we live in.
On another subj: We were watching "Posh" live shows and there was a girl on who had a housefull of NEW sneakers - Nikes, NB, Adidas, etc. etc. in every size. the buyers in the comment section were making requests (do you have size 9?) .....for real. It was a site to behold. And I told my friend, I bet those are smash & grab sneakers. They were all new and in the box. No way anyone has that many new NIKES to sell unless they're stealing them.
