AI removed listing put it back up then removed it again
Summary: A participant shared their frustration over eBay's AI removing a listing due to a supposed policy violation and later reinstating it without changes, only to remove it again shortly after. dirk12955 and others echoed similar experiences with AI wrongly flagging their listings. christworks offered advice on how eBay might use image fingerprinting to flag previously removed listings, suggesting retaking photos and starting fresh. Participants expressed disappointment with AI's role in these errors, with some shifting sales to alternative platforms.
I don't see how ebay is making money by letting AI do this, it removed a listing for Offering to buy or sell outside of eBay
I had no idea what it was even looking at cause there was none so I just appealed it stating in the contact box that could not find the problem in the listing,
about 3 days later I got a message
"Good news! The Offering to buy or sell outside of eBay policy revisions you made to your listings have been approved. Your compliant listings are now visible to shoppers on our site."
I made no revisions to the listing cause I could not find anything wrong, but they did put it back up then 24 hours later,
"One or more of your listings have been hidden for not following our Offering to buy or sell outside of eBay policy. We understand that this must be frustrating. But don’t worry — we’re here to help!"
They took the same listing down that they just said 24 hours earlier was compliant. I took the item and sold it somewhere else, ebay lost the sale I hope the stockholders take note how well this is not working.

·4 days agoOkay we had an item hidden because of trying to sell off ebay. Appealed. They said okay. Relisted and it was hidden again. The best I can figure out is that some glitch changed the postage on the listing.

Seems impossible to fix the listing. We've tried. Not worth the time to mess with.

·1 week agoEbay is not "minding the store"! It is sad to see this happening. Same thing happened to me. I just moved the product to another sales venue outside Ebay. I really don't see the improvement with the AI implementation. Just imagine if we used AI to respond to our customers. How well would Ebay work then. And then sellers that use AI for their product descriptions. AI tells you absolutely nothing about the actual product being offered for sale. Just sentences filled with fluff words.

·1 week ago@animal-house-8 My comment is not about whether your listing should be removed, but rather about relisting pulled listings.
eBay uses AI and image detection to check listings. Systems like these can give a photo a digital “fingerprint” so they can recognize it when it appears again. If that fingerprint is linked to a listing that was removed, using the same photos in a new listing will most certainly cause it to be flagged again—even if you had corrected the title or description. That doesn’t prove the new listing breaks a rule, but it could trigger another removal.
eBay hasn’t publicly confirmed that it uses this exact fingerprinting process for removed listings, but I strongly suspect they do. When I've had a listing pulled, I retake the photos and make a new listing from scratch, making sure to change anything I remotely think caused the listing to be pulled. Then I list again and I'm normally fine.

Is it possible that part (or all) of your problem has anything to do with the fact that your listings/descriptions advertise and have a hyperlink directing people to your "sister site?"

·1 week agoI had a collectable price guide removed as a spy radio device. AI is just not ready for prime time. Now I have another one removed as a firearm? It's just too much.

·1 week ago · EditedI recently had the AI remove name brand toys that they said were knock offs. I sold the same exact toy, last year. I submitted new pics, and AI denied my appeal. Too bad they don't have humans anymore. Spent too much for their AI

Bot answering human, human asking bot, bot asking human, human answering bot, seems we're doing fine, what's the question? lol.

·1 week agoI've several listings for a stamp sheet ended by Ai as being
against their (Ebay) goofy rules.
I sit back and do nothing. Several days later
ebay re-starts the listings because of my successful
revisions.
I made no revisions.
