AI descriptions are truly awful

Bringing this back, since it really needs to be addressed by ebay.
Great fuff filled details, nearly zero value to understand quality, details, true information about the item.
Ebay, please correct this.
"Accurate" descriptions are KEY to this market. 1 star to ebay, and 1 star to those who use it....without...their own description first
Ebay, want to use AI....have AI scan the photos and question the seller, and add to the post...ie, "please commenton the discoloration or the scratches or there seems to be damage to xxx, can you comment."

·2 weeks agoI never use the AI descriptions. The most frustrating part of selling these days is dealing with people using the app, in which the description does not show up by default (Ebay, please fix this!). People ask questions that make it obvious that they've not seen the description. I try to make sure the photos are good, at least, so they can see the item that way.

·2 weeks agoeBay has more than 17 Million sellers selling more than two Billion items on any given day. And you are suggesting that eBay have AI scan each of those listings and tell the seller to correct details? That is wrong and potentially disastrous in so many ways.
I, too, dislike AI descriptions. If I look at an item that has an AI description and no other condition details, I just move on.

It's 2026. Buyers are buying through app, where they have to click around to get to your long-winded description that they won't read, even if they find it. They are looking at the first 3 photos, and reviewing your condition and item specifics.
I used to do detailed descriptions. I stopped. I copy the condition into that place and move on.

·2 weeks agoI will say most times i use chatgpt the accuracy is usually pretty decent. if i need help figuring out what something is or to get more accurate information google image search is pretty phenomenal. now the ebay AI is more or less useless for me. i wish it was better but they are far from that...

·2 weeks ago · EditedAI description use the information the seller provides in the titles and item specifics to make complete sentences. It should not invent new information or details that were not provided by the seller.
Sellers alredy seem to have enough trouble verifying the item specifics from the eBay catalog- asking sellers to identify, understand and verify completely new information that AI slipped in would be a recipe for disaster.

·2 weeks agoI only find their Ai beneficial when it provides Item Specifics for my Listing just based on the Title and Pictures...saves some time, although at times not always accurate. I definitely won't trust it to write my Descriptions though.
