After-sale & getting paid by eBay
Been on eBay & PayPal since they started.
Never had an issue buying b/c my PayPal acct is linked & has a dedicated Credit Card with low limit to prevent fraud.
Have sold a very few number of items over the years, not recently (probably a decade since). If I remember correctly, used to get a check for sale proceeds or just paid to PayPal acct.
I'm now being told in order to be paid for selling something I need to provide all kinds of bank info, arm & leg, etc.
Why can't eBay just pay the PayPal acct that has been linked forever?
How do u speak with (or text with) a live human being @ eBay that can help? Thx!

·9 months agoNope, you need a bank account. Privacy issues don't matter. eBay is no longer a on line garage sale, it is now a B2B platform with serious record keeping and filing. Many sellers do have a separate bank account just for eBay.
Remember, eBay works the way they need to, and are now required by law to have SS# on all who receive payouts. eBay does not work the way individual sellers want or think it should work. And its not just eBay, its any on line market place facilitator today

OP9 months agoSo, if I understand you all correctly, there is no way to link the sale income payments to a Credit Card or PayPal?
It's a privacy issue for me. I shouldn't have to provide eBay access to my personal checking account info to get paid. If that is the only way, is it best to have a separate, dedicated bank acct just for eBay? Thx!

·9 months agoThat's it.
First thing that I did before opting into (yes it was an option way back when) Managed Payments was to open a "dedicated to eBay" checking account.

·9 months agoCredit cards were n ever even designed to receive payments. The only purpose was to to use them for PAYING.
You are responsible for knowing all the polices. I strongly suggest that you read those BEFORE listing. A lot has changed.

·9 months agoManaged Payments is the new game for eBay - eBay is also the money processor like PayPal used to be. You have to comply with that to get your money. Start by reading this eBay link https://www.ebay.com/help/sr?query=Managed+payments&origin=1

We sellers empathize. I so wish that new/returning sellers were required to update to Managed Payments before listing!
At least yours is a small sale without huge shipping costs. Think it over and decide if this is your last sale or if you'll sign up.

·9 months agoI agree, they shouldn't be able to list anything until the information is provided and they are set up to receive payments.

There is no human being you can call at eBay that can grant you a waiver or exemption.

·9 months agoSorry, expecting this to all be like it was a decade ago won't do it. Nor will contacting anyone to want what is no longer help. Reopening your selling account should simply have triggered you to do some reading so you had a foggy.
I haven't sold for about 4 years and guess what? Everything is not the same. I hope I have it all in control BEFORE i list something

To be paid now, you have to provide a checking account and your SSN.
Pay Pal hasn't been an option to pay sellers for a few years now.

·9 months agoYou do not need to talk to an agent through Ebay. Lets save you a bunch of time. Ebay and Paypal split years ago. You are now required to have your bank information on file to get paid. If you are inactive for some time you must also wait 30 days cause there will be a hold once payment is processed. There is no "arm & leg" apart of this. Ebay is well protected. Just fill out the form and type in your bank information to start the process. If you decline then find another platform to sell on.
