After 22 years selling at eBay views on items are ZERO.
Last months I offered some objects witch are fairly wanted. I did not received any offers or questions and no sales.
I stopped all my sales because the efford I put into it is useless.
No views, no visitors just nothing.
WHY ?

·3 years agoA No Returns stance doesn't much help when shoppers can check <Returns Accepted> in the drop-down and your listing aren't even shown.

·3 years ago22 years but you don't know that ebay changed they way they count views a year ago?
Most likely your listing had views, but ebay didn't register them on the counter.
These boards are full of posts/threads this exact thing - No Views
Most buyers don't need to send you a mail because they viewed your item
Just because a item is deemed as wanted doesn't mean it actually is, every seller on the platform will tell you their items are wanted - and they are, by someone, somewhere, doesn't mean it will sell immediately.

·3 years agoYour not wrong sales have gone down, as well as views. Economy is in a bad place right now, may have some to do with it, but not all. Seems auctions doing better than buy it now right now, and cheap prices. Lots doing good too.

·3 years agoWe would need to know what it is that you think should have all those views and at what price you were asking for those items you think are a good deal. I list some items late at night and get 20 views by the time I wake up. Other things take a week before getting a view. It all depends on what it is.

·3 years agoPerfect example of this: I listed two plush toys at pretty much the same time the other day (a Pokemon one and a Peter Rabbit one). The Pokemon one started getting views and watchers within half an hour and sold in just a few days. The Peter Rabbit one still hasn't gotten a single view yet.

·3 years agoIts been downhill for a long while now. Im getting ready to go down to a $20 a month store and once my inventory is gone, I'll find something else to do. Getting kind of tired of eBay triple/quadruple dipping on the fees anyways. The amount they take would make Amazon blush.

That makes no sense. It takes ZERO effort to leave eBay listings up once they are created.
No views, no visitors just nothing. WHY
Because your opinion that they are "fairly wanted' may not be an accurate assessment of the demand on eBay.

·3 years agoWhy are your items not getting any views or sales?
My guess would be because people aren't interested in them.

OP3 years agoI was a seller for 22 years and have some experience. I know what to offer at ebay becuase I do sell objects that are wanted highly. It is just not correct what eBay is doing. Anyway good luck with your selling at yhis platform I have found another witch works.

·3 years agoDo you think ebay is somehow preventing people from looking at and buying your "highly wanted" items?
Why would they do that?

·3 years agoLearn patience. Your Godet bronze sculpture is only one of two that I found here. For what that's worth...

OP3 years agoI was a seller for 22 years so I do have some experience, just see my feedacks. A bronze Godet sculpter with just 4 views in about 6 months is not correct.

·3 years ago56,000 bronze sculptures and only 5,000 sold. A little demand but I think you are being over optimistic in your expectations. Compare your prices to those 5,000 that have sold and adjust accordingly if you want more views and sales.

A question would be.................... did you have "impressions" ?
You may already know this, but "impressions" means that your items at least came up in search.
viaplaza
OP3 years agoI was a seller for 22 years so I know what I am doing and it is just not possible that highy wanted objects in design never get any views. It is jus teBay doing strange things I assume. Maybe they rather hace eBay China ?
buyselljack2016
·3 years agoI made no reference to your "seller abilities", or if your items are/are not wanted 🙂
I ask again.
Impressions?

·3 years agoAccording to your feedback, you have received feedback on only six sales all over six months ago (and left feedback for only three).
You may have missed the news that eBay has changed how it records Views.
Only Views in the previous 30 days are shown and those from bots and SEOs are no longer counted.
Of course, a View is a customer who saw your item and decided not to buy it.

·3 years agoBecause of eBay's evil business practices.
Because of the way eBay treats its users.
eBay has dropped to #3 behind Shopify and Amazon for a reason. Millions of people have left. Back in the day eBay was #1 and everyone was making fun of Amazon for never making any money. Amazon was not making in money because they were investing in infrastructure for the future.
All of eBay's innovations were invented by other people, which eBay then stole or bought the company that created them. Pictures in listings, scheduled listings, listing software, eBay's own API, electronic payments and more were all invented by others. eBay was even found guilty of stealing early online auction patents invented by someone else. Look at Meg Whitman's running of HP - a total disaster as there she was unable to steal other people's ideas as she had done on eBay.
I can post items in a dozen local, regional and state Facebook groups and easily get over 100 views within a couple days yet the same items on eBay might get 1-5 views, maybe go into double digits if you are lucky. All my items on Facebook are pickup only, with one party traveling over 100 miles one way to buy multiple items. Another couple stopped while traveling on their vacation.
eBay is entirely run by management to meet short term sales goals at any cost so they earn bonuses before they leave the company millionaires. They do not care about the long term health of the company, sellers or buyers - only themselves.
eBay habitual lying customer service combined with woke sociopathic managers and a total lack of innovation is formula for failure. Those stolen ideas will only get you so much mileage. Much of their income these days is due to scams such as FVF on shipping, promoted listings, scamming the 1969 UPU program designed to help poor people, promoting free shipping and its higher costs and so on.

·3 years ago@Anonymous Shopify?? That's not even a website. It's just a website BUILDER and then YOU get to pay Thousands of $$ to advertise and try to bring people to your site.
Shopify- 3,000,000 'customers'
Ebay- 159,000,000 users with 19,000,000 sellers.
Not even close.

·3 years agoShopify Overtakes eBay - Marketplace Pulse
Shopify’s Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) for the second quarter was $30.1 billion compared to eBay’s $27.1 billion. For the first time, Shopify processed more transaction volume than eBay. Shopify is not a marketplace directly comparable to eBay; however, like all e-commerce companies, they compete for the same customers.
eBay reported a 26% GMV growth for the second quarter - the highest quarterly growth rate in 15 years - and 35% GMV growth in the US. Meanwhile, Shopify said its GMV grew 119% in the second quarter; it doesn’t break out GMV by region. Additionally, Shopify added that it saw “growth accelerating in April and May and decelerating in June and thus far in July.†Shopify’s growth in the second quarter was its highest quarterly growth rate since it went public in 2015.
You really shot yourself in the foot with that one.
Even more amazing considering the number of users you would have up believe eBay has versus Shopify. I hate to break it to you but millions of eBay accounts are duplicate accounts for the same person (i.e., selling, buying, posting in the forums). Millions more are dormant accounts or accounts rarely used.
eBay continues to loose millions of users as documented in many news articles.
"Shopify?? That's not even a website."
A website that has been around for only 17 years.
"It's just a website BUILDER and then YOU get to pay Thousands of $$ to advertise and try to bring people to your site."
You mean like paying eBay insertion fees; store fees; FVF fees on your items, shipping and sales tax; promotional fees. I get more views on Facebook Marketplace than eBay and its free! Heck, I'd probably get more views on the old GeoCities website I used back in day to sell items.
femmefan1946
·3 years agoI will reiterate that a View is a customer who did not buy.
And add that as of June 2023, FaceBook Marketplace will be charging fees.
When we have a few years of eBay experience, it is more useful to use our records from past years.
While 2020 and 2021 showed a pandemic surge in online shopping, we can compare our 2022 and 2023 results to the same months in 2018 and 2019, or even earlier.
I know both from over 30 years in mail order, that November and December are terrible months for my product lines.
But January through March, which are very slow for some sellers, are my busy period.
It's hard to sell BBQs in August. Few buy bathing suits in October.

·3 years agoI'm not talking GVM and you still CANNOT buy ANYTHING on a 'Shopify Website'.
Go to the 'Shopify' website and purchase a dozen socks, an alternator for a 67' Ford and a guitar.
I have a website, using GoDaddy. They sell nothing. I 'wholesale' and 'dropship' to a company that spends $100,000 a month advertising on any email, website etc. on the planet.
So, that's $1,200,000 a year. Far cry from $14,000 for $100,000 in sales. And, I DON'T pay if NOTHING sells.
Not true with a website.
Like comparing Disneyland to a Federal Penitentiary.
Both are "Places".
Other than that, nothing in common.

Are you sure about that? Both trap you in lines
both take your money and you never get it back
Both are run by cartoon characters.

I guess they "lost" 26 MILLION users while you weren't looking?

·3 years agoI can speak only from a U.S. perspective, of course:
I see three items in Completed Listings: A bronze sculpture for $800 + $95 shipping from The Netherlands. A cup, saucer, and small plate set $65 plus $28 shipping from The Netherlands. A bicycle handlebar for $100 plus $36 shipping from the Netherlands.
At the best of times, none of those would be quick sellers. In the current times, they are surely very slow sellers, not what vewry many people are looking to buy.
So, I don't think you're doing anything wrong except in having unrealistic expectations of what is "fairly wanted" in the current market. You may want to try again, and be a bit more patient.

·3 years agoBut then eBay has been lowball marketplace for years.
The heydays were in the late 1990s and 2000s when auctions ruled eBay.
If you will often find people buying your items to resell elsewhere such as their own niche domains, which you you can easily find with some basic detective work on Google.
eBay has long been the race to the bottom to see who can give away their item nor nothing by lowering their price the quickest.
ed8108
·3 years agoI suspect manny people chose selling their unwanted items on ebay vastily better than receiving perhaps only 10% of retail from a business or professional
Before the immense popularity of Internet selling collectible & antique Items might easily travel dealer to dealer before finding a place in a booth or shop selling at high retail

·3 years agoWe can't answer that if we can't see any of your listings. Not everything has a buyer, and the etailing space is crammed full of resellers.
doug_5857
·3 years agoRight now, you have no listings. Even though you got no views, you have to have listings to get views and sell something.
Sounds like you posted some items and cuz no one looked at them in 7 days got mad, cancelled all listings, packed up and went home. You don't even have any listings for us to look at to see if there is a problem with your listings so we could help you.
Out of my 90 or so postings. I might get 4 or 5 items that get a few views and no sales per week until I start lowering the price till it sells. You have to keep trying or else you aint gonna sell nothing. good luck to you.
