After 15 years we are leaving eBay
After 15 years being with eBay. They are asking for my husband’s drivers license can you believe that? He is not gonna put his drivers license online now with all the scammers going on nowadays and after 15 years we’re leaving we’re not buying or selling on eBay.

·1 month agoI decided that that with the over 6.4 million total fraud and identity theft complaints logged annually. I am not willing to take unnecessary risks. If a scammer gets a hold of my driver's license they can open bank accounts, apply for credit cards, take out loans and commit crimes in my name.
Also, in 2025 the USA Social Security was hack and 10 years ago Ebay was hack and that compromised the personal information of all 145 million of its active users at the time).
I have been an Ebay buyer and seller for 14 years and I have an excellent history at Ebay. Ebay has my Credit card information (used when I purchased items) and they have my checking account number and Ebay have deposited fund for the items I have sold for more than last ten years in that account. I made a total of $90-$100 dollars on Ebay sells in 2025. I believe I spend more money in Ebay. I have used my credit card for purchases for vacation and items online with many different companies and those companies have never asked me to download verification documents. I am not willing to take the chance and send my Driver’s information to Ebay.
Ebay does not need a copy of my Drivers lisence. I am thinking of ending my relationship with Ebay.

·1 month agoThis thread is 3 years old now. The funny part is the original poster announced they were leaving ebay, but they currently have 66 listings up.

·3 years agoI don't either.
Heck...U-Haul even wanted my driver's license to verify my identity when I rented a trailer from them last week (and all the times before) and to quick in-process, I could upload my drivers license into their system prior to getting to their location and picking up the trailer.
You can probably guess what I did.
And no...my driver's license does NOT have my social security number on it as my driver ID any more. I took that off years ago. South Dakota had that as an option to use at one time.
People are so paranoid. But I wear a tin foil hat to protect me from 5G signals so what do I know?
