Advice On Shipping High Dollar Order To New No Feedback Buyer
Hey everybody. Yesterday I sold a high dollar vinyl record for just under $500 to a buyer that has no feedback who created their account yesterday the same day of the order. I thought I had restrictions set on buyers with no feedback but apparently not.
I researched the name of the buyer online and their phone number does match their actual name. But their address listed online doesn't match the shipping address, however it is only 6 minutes away. Both addresses seems to be in a very nice neighborhood. But I'm just really worried about the whole thing.
And the worst part is I'm really hurting for money this month so this order was big and I really don't want to cancel it. I thought maybe I should add a signature confirmation to help. But that wasn't stated in the order so I didn't want to get anyone mad about that either. I messaged the buyer last night and this morning and so far no responses. I plan on calling the phone number as well. But I really wanted to get others opinions on how they would handle this. Thank you very much.

·1 year agoZero feedback buyers are usually “guest accounts†which is why they were “created†the same day as the purchase. For what it’s worth, I sell to guests all the time and have never once had a problem.

·1 year agoYou have to ship the order or take a hit to your account, No feedback does not mean it will be a bad transaction, New buyers with a new account have to get started somewhere, Delivery Confirmation was a Great after thought, But it needed to be stated in your listing, You shouldn't add it now, Best Of Luck!

OP1 year agoYeah I'm not sure where I read that you could do that, but that makes sense that you can't.

·1 year agoI get these all the time. I'm proud that they created an account just for my item, and it motivates me to provide them with a great first experience on eBay.
Your only choices are to either ship the item or cancel the sale and take a defect on your selling account.
Stop messaging the buyer. They don't like that.

·1 year agoYou can't set restrictions for buyers with no feedback. There is no such thing on eBay. If every seller did that, there could never be any new buyers. Ever. Everyone had to start sometime. I assume the buyer saw the record, wanted to buy it, and so created an account. Ship the record to them.

OP1 year agoWhat are your thoughts about adding a signature confirmation free of charge? Even if it wasn't stated in the listing before they purchased?

·1 year agoI wouldn't, unless the shipping and taxes took the total over $750 in which case you need to. I'm guessing it didn't from what I can see in the listing. Adding signature confirmation doesn't give you more protection on eBay for a sale of that amount, and is often going to annoy the buyer and make it harder for them to receive their item. If you do it, definitely reach out to the customer and let them know before you ship it.

·1 year agoI wouldn't because that can actually annoy a buyer if Sig Confirmation is not required and your put it on a package.
Also there is no such setting to block zero feedback buyers.

·1 year agoSignature conformation doesn't provide you any more protection than just regular tracking does ... and as others have pointed out, it really annoys some buyers that work for a living and are not at home to sign for a package.

If I do signature confirmation (rare), I put a glaring notice in the listing so the buyer can pick the shipping address accordingly. I buyers appreciate it on high value items, just as long as there's a heads up.
