Advice on adding an employee to my seller account?
Summary: djjeweler is seeking advice on training a new employee to help with eBay sales. They are considering having the employee start with simpler product categories and using SKUs with initials to track who listed which items. eoma689485 provided a link to eBay's team access information, while jonathanbrightlight and dhbookds suggested using SKU initials for tracking and gradually increasing the employee’s responsibilities. ryry-jj emphasized the importance of training and management consistency, suggesting that the process be closely monitored.
Hi,
I've been selling on Ebay for a long time for different businesses. But it's always been a solo endeavor. My boss just asked me to train another employee to sell on eBay with me.
I was wondering if anyone had any good advice or suggestions on how to divide the labor/ responsibilities, etc.
My first thought is to restrict him to one or 2 of my less complicated product categories in the beginning.
Also, I thought about asking him to add his initials to our internal skus we create, so I can differentiate between who listed what product when I need to review them.
Should I create another log-in/ user for him (is that even possible)?
We're growing fast so it probably won't be too long before we add a 3rd person. So any tips/ suggestions would be appreciated.

·1 month agoyears ago, before all the bells and whistle that ebay has added...... sellers who had various people list on the same account assigned specific cent prices....ie. 19.99 meant Joe listed.......19.50 meant Sally listed.
Today.....I would use the sku, assuming you use it as a storage location...... B(ox) 12 x means you listed, B12xx means Sally listed......
From looking at your listings, you are dealing with high price items at auction. I would only start a new employee with photoing and item specifics on the lower end stuff.......let them "learn" the category and how to research... graduate into title and descriptions, etc.
just thoughts.

OP1 month agoThanks for the input.
Yes, that's basically the plan for creating skus to identify the lister.
Was thinking of restricting him to items with lower price points in the beginning for sure.

·1 month agoYou have provided very little details of what you are listing, so I don't understand any of the complications of who listed what. Train properly, you should remain in control and edit all shipping details, that should be consistent and accurate. All listing should be scheduled so you can review before going live. One person need to be in charge.
When you feel the employee is trained well, delegate more, kick back and ask your boss for a raise since you are now management

·1 month agoIt's limited, and some of what I consider essential tools for what I do aren't available with Team Access, but if you just need them to list items and manage orders it may be just fine. I'd still use the SKU field to add their initials, that should work well.
