Adding insult to injure.
My item is posted, on sale, for $27.97 plus S/H. 3 others sold on Sept. 24, 21 & 20 for $48.99, $59.99 & $50.00; all with S/H added on top. Really???? Do they even see my listing?! What makes theirs a better buy at $21 $33 & $23 more? No wonder I cannot get many sales! People are trying to save money? lol Does not look that way to me. What would you do? Pay over double for no reason other than you did not know mine was available? Good luck to all! 🙂

·2 years agoIt's ebay's business. Of course they're going to rig it the way they want. I'd be shocked if they did anything else.

·2 years agoThis is how ebay rigs things the way they want.

·2 years agoI see a seller with 94% feedback who blames their own postal service for problems, making excuses why his/her items don't reach buyers, blame buyers and accuse them of being scammers (not necessarily in feedback replies, but in posts in the community), disingenuous "apologies" to unhappy buyers but placing blame on carrier and dozens of posts in the community complaining about how bad ebay and members are.
ETA: I also see a seller who leaves contradictory (improper) feedback comments for buyers.

OP2 years agoWho do you blame if you mail a package & 2-3 weeks later it is back in your mailbox? The buyer I accuse got a refund & 3-4 days later he received the item. Never paid for it nor sent it back. What do you call that?
hartungcards
·2 years agoYou call that one of the costs of doing business online. You don't like these kind of costs? Open a brick and mortar store.
stephenmorgan
·2 years agoIf you intentionally keep something that is not yours, is it theft? You got your money back, so the package is not yours. A Small Claims Court may find in your favor.
Since eBay is the one who authorized the refund maybe they would reimburse you? You could try a Notice of Dispute with their Legal Department and see what happens.
If it is somehow written it the User Agreement that you agree to allow eBay to make a final decision then there may not be anything more to accomplish with eBay.

·2 years agoDid the buyer make a mistake and input their address incorrectly? Then I'd blame the buyer.
If there was nothing wrong with the address? Then I'd blame the postal system and I'd be at my PO having a not-very-friendly chat with them to find out why it was sent back.

·2 years agoYou're shipping from Canada and you don't accept returns. Killer.
The shipping out of Canada my be an issue but I don't even notice when sellers don't accept returns. As a buyer I am covered not only by the MBG but by my CC company under the Fair Credit Billing Act and the Electronics Funds Transfer Act. No returns does NOT mean no refunds it simply means that the seller does not want the item back.

·2 years agoTrue there are protections in place but I don't really want to go and use them willy-nilly just cuz they are there. The "killer" statement is "dead on'.
Zero chance of this Buyer ever purchasing and the bitter responces only throw more dirt on the pile.

·2 years agoNot exactly sure which of your items you are referring to but whenever I search for an item on eBay, which is seldom these days, I always stack the results by price + shipping lowest first. In most cases the lower total cost items are domestic and generally from buyers located on the east coast of the US. Shipping cost are becoming more and more of a factor in online purchases when you look at the total cost. I have however, on occasion, found items for sale in the international market where the total cost, even with shipping, was less than what I could purchase it for domestically but those are rare and generally not on eBay.
Now that the pandemic has subsided most items I need I can find in local B&M stores cheaper than I can online, I can take immediate possession of the item and I don't have to worry about shipping damage, returns or other potential issues with online purchases. When I do purchase online most of the time I find what I am looking for cheaper on another ecommerce venue than I do on eBay. The ecommerce marketplace exploded during the pandemic and competition is becoming fierce for a larger piece of the marketplace share. Sellers on eBay are having to increase their prices to cover rising costs or maintaining pricing and reducing their ROI/profit. Promoted listings, for those that are using it, are a big contributor to a sellers increased costs.

·2 years agoWhether it's your fault or not that feedback percentage will get lots of people to skip your store without even looking.
Your $15 shipping for some cards would keep me form shopping with you
I only buy from USA sellers
gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoMaybe try bumping up your prices closer to the competition and giving free shipping on the items would help? Also, I didn't look thru all of your store but I did look at this item and you may want to consider taking brighter, more focused pics of this one. A nice, white, bright background is perfect for photos. Make sure that your customers can see every detail of your products. As a buyer, I would not pay $85 for something I can't see.
Can't do much about the negs. They are there for all to see until they drop off. Sigh.... Never arriving I would consider a postal problem when I read feedback, but not responding to messages is another thing. Now that ebay has that response time showing up with our store info, you may want to respond quicker so that doesn't cause future problems.

·2 years agoI brought up the blurry earrings months ago when the OP was asking for feedback on their listings (as to why not getting more sales). Not being able to see what you're buying is a big problem, and most buyers will move on to the next listing.

gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoExactly. I would.
sakic92710
OP2 years agoThey are only talking about their personal messages. I responded through the INR claims. Not my fault if they won't even look at the info provided to them in their own claims.
gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoSorry, that's a poor excuse. You have to respond to ALL messages, regardless of who they come from. That is what your response time is going to be based on and will be included in your profile. Only responding to cases is a terrible way to do business. You have to respond to your customers. You're lucky you only got 2 negs. Prepare yourself for more if you continue to ignore messages from them, especially if they are concerned about something.
brightlightbookseller
·2 years agoI don't respond to all messages. That's a poor way of looking at business, and letting customers hold you hostage. I respond to reasonable messages, and anything that is ridiculous I just archive and ignore. Like people who offer $25 on a $500 item. They don't get a response. Hasn't hurt me yet and never will.
gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoIf it is affecting your reputation as a seller, it is a very poor way of doing business. They have already dropped another 3% since they started this thread because of not receiving items and NO RESPONSES FROM SELLER. You are ignoring people that are sending you offers, not buyers that have purchased something with a valid question so your point really doesn't apply. Of course you aren't going to get feedback from people you haven't actually sold something to.
onefootflipper
·2 years agoYou are unfortunately at a natural disadvantage being in Canada. A lot of buyers search US only.
yuzuha
·2 years agoI was going to say. I always do, in order to weed out Chinese sellers (unless the item I'm looking to buy is something that originates from another country in the first place).
isaiah53-57
·2 years agoWell considering the site made 2x the fees on the ones that sold in comparison to your item, that may be an indicator of your predicament - especially since there is a caveat in the TOS that indicates your item may not be seen in search, regardless of the type of sort being used. How is that possible? Not sure if that applies to store items or not, but if I was paying for a store, I would have to seriously consider the legality of that term of service...
I bet your item never made it to the blue "Great Price" status box thingy... I wonder how many unsuspecting shoppers that thing has snared... When I see it and then continue searching, I find that often times, it is one of the highest priced items - and I rarely find is it the lowest price, or even one of the lowest priced items... I imagine many people think, "Oh wow, the site has helped me find a "Great Price", how nice", putting forth their trust that it is working as indicated ... seems that can be what you get for putting your trust in corporate entities...
hartungcards
·2 years agoYes, I'm sure eBay didn't think it was necessary and/or bother to run their Terms of Service past their legal department before publishing them.
isaiah53-57
·2 years agoLove the sarcasm...seems the only way you know to how communicate...here's some back...

·2 years agoAs a buyer that buys on Ebay all the time. I would spend more to buy from a seller with a better feedback rating. I don't even read the feedback as i go with ratings and 94.5% would be a no go.

·2 years ago1) Those sold sets look like they are in better condition
2) Feedback and your responses to that feedback
3) You are in Canada
4) Your shipping is quite expensive (understandably) - but that smaller gap in pricing, once shipping is included, means that many won't want the hassle of a shipment from Canada to save a few dollars
sakic92710
OP2 years agoThe set that sold for $60 US was a Canadian seller but do not know if it went to a Canadian buyer. How can you tell the cards are better when they only show examples of 4 cards out of 132? With shipping, they charged $70 to US. With S/H, selling to a US buyer, my price is $43. Nothing wrong with my feedback responses. My positives greatly outweigh the negs. 2 of those negs are almost a year old. If everyone bothered to leave FB, my % would be much, much more higher than it is. The last negative I got was from a buyer who received a refund AND the item. Who deserves a negative there?!! Enjoy your day. 🙂

·2 years agoHow can you tell the cards are better when they only show examples of 4 cards out of 132?
Presentation.
It's why Naomi Campbell walks the Paris runway and not Melissa McCarthy.
Nothing wrong with my feedback responses.
Note how many posters here are saying you are wrong about that.
BTW - if an item is returned when it was not tracked, you resend it with tracking, not excuses.
sakic92710
OP2 years agoSorry - when someone buys an item for $8 & pays $4 for shipping and the item comes back to me, I'm not dishing out another $12-15 for tracked shipping.
They are entitled to their opinions. 3-4 people saying it doesn't make it true. If 20 people told you they saw an alien UFO, would you just believe them because, well, there is 20 of them! lol
gloryglorygifts
·2 years agoMelissa McCarthy has her own clothing line, so I am sure there are plus-sized models on runways with her collections. Just fyi.

·2 years agoMy gut says it has something to do with getting an item out of country from Canada. Maybe the shipping costs and time to receive are issues. Also your three negatives all have at their core, not receiving items because of Canada Post problems.
I think it could be as simple as that.

·2 years agoI would guess its the negative FB and your replies to them.
If i could get something here in the US for more $ from a seller with 100% FB and zero red donuts .... I might just figure that the extra $ was worth knowing I would have no problem.
sakic92710
OP2 years agoYes. And if you read my replies, not only was none of it my fault, Each buyer got a refund & still left a negative. The last buyer is a thief who kept the refund & the item yet, I get a negative?! Check the positives & you see there would be no problem.
lakefor94
·2 years agoThe negs are hurting @sakic92710 hopefully you will start seeing them drop off. Your responses do not do much for the negs. Next time, if there is one, turn the negs into a positive with a highly professional response.

sakic92710
OP2 years ago2 of the negs are almost a year old. I've been waiting for them to drop off of the rating. I do not see any wrong with my responses. I say the truth. Also, the most recent neg was from a thief but I never made mention of it nor was I rude in any way.
reallynicestamps
·2 years agowas none of it my fault, Each buyer got a refund & still left a negative.
Doesn't matter.
Buyers don't read feedback. They look at that 94% and move on.
buyer is a thief who kept the refund & the item
You didn't insist on a Claim before refunding?
Didn't send a Return Shipping Label (you can buy a USPS label through Shippo)?
The price is lower because I'm having a 30% sale.
ricarmic is still assembling data, but so far it looks as if buying Promoted Listings Standard is more useful in making sales than discounting prices.
And while everyone hates to pay the landlord, most people like the higher profit.
Use PL at 2% or 10% instead of discounting by 30%.
Grown ups take responsibility for their own actions.
vintage-camerastuff
·2 years agoThere is a reason why yours didn't sell at the lower price. You have to figure out what you did wrong. Compare your pictures and description to there's. Maybe you priced it to low. Most sellers think that if they price it lower than everyone else it will sell quicker. Your listing is a great example that it doesn't always work that way.
suzysemporium
·2 years agoVery true. Some buyers will think there is something wrong with the item if it is priced too low.

·2 years agoThat is a good point. I often pay more for something located within country then a bargain price with a long delivery time from an international seller.
eBay makes it easy to limit you search area for something you are looking for and this would hopefully mean you will not see anything outside of that search area.
sakic92710
OP2 years agoSomeone didn't mind. It just sold. Guess some US buyers have patience. 🙂
