It's not the lighting, it's not the focus, it's the complete over-saturation of a market. You can find good costume jewellery locally here for pennies on the dollar - there is just so much of it. I'm in a super oversaturated category, too, and it has been vital for me to spread out, but I don't think it's going to improve overall, and no, it's not the economy or wAsHIngTon!!!!! It's the competition.
Sellers of costume jewelry are among the most prolific in creating slow/no sales threads on this forum.
I trip to a flea market this morning showed more sellers trying to sell costume jewelry than ever before, at lower prices than usual. And several regular jewelry sellers were missing in action.
as well as a search engine that does not give the customers what they are looking for. I'm down like 50% from where I used to be this time of year with 15,000 more listings
@cool.jewels.by.jeff , Instead of Your sales are down. Look at your item's sales. If you have been selling many 5lb cannon balls and now you are not? Check to see if 5lb cannon balls are still selling. (by viewing sold listings). That will tell you if it's your cannon balls, or everybody's. My guess is to what you will find is: 5lb cannon balls are still selling pretty good, yet no single seller is running away with these sales. And there's nothing you can do about it...within reason anyway.
Get ready for the Feebay apologists to blame everything from Joe Biden to the price of tea in china, except where the true blame rests, on Feebay.
Ebay fees have only increased marginally. OP has a number of issues to contend with such as selling in a saturated niche during an economic downturn. OP also need to invest in a new lighting setup for the photos as the silver items tend to blend into the gray background.

I can say for a fact that at my B&M job, jewelry sales (aside from inexpensive casual everyday jewelry) dropped during the pandemic and have never recovered since then, so there's that too.
Ebay adjusts their algorithm constantly, usually in favor of people that pay to promote their crap. That and constantly loosing market share to "the platform that shall not be named". I sold 5x amount of items for a premium price 10 years ago with half the amount of items for sale. The hayday of ebay is drawing to a close in their attempt to follow the "river"

The computer driven distribution of eyeballs to products is erratic.
Nothing you can do about it except pray and wait it out. You might want to try other platforms if you haven't done so already.
