Ad Fees taking forever to be charged
With the new terrible update for promoted listings (any click from anyone, not the buyer, now causes the promoted fee charges, lol) my promoted listing charges are being delayed by days. It's incredibly frustrating to try and keep my sales and numbers accurate when there's additional charges 2 or 3 days later.
If eBay is going to continue to overcharge sellers and raise fees every change you get, I don't think it's too outrageous to ask for the fees to be charged in a timely manner. Going through hundreds of items 2 or 3 days later that I've already gone through is incredibly annoying and unnecessary.
Why is it so delayed? Why is the software so poor? Why is the new fee structure so poorly executed?

·8 months agoDelayed ad attribution has been possible for years, even under the previous attribution model.
Ad reports and policy pages have a note that says "Metrics are reported in near real-time. Allow at least 72 hours to reconcile, although some campaign types might require more time." That means a sale can come in initially not tagged as sold via promoted listings but hours or days later, it can be changed and the fee charged once it "reconciles."
This 72 hr reconciliation window has been around since at least 2021 - I know that because I personally spoke to VP Ads Alex Kazim about it at that time and he told me that ~5% of sales couldn't be attributed in real time.
I don't know where that stat stands today, but either way, delayed attribution/reconciliation is still a thing and will likely continue to be a thing as long as Promoted Listings ads exist.

That's just a fancy way of saying that this delay is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

·8 months agoYou ain't kidding. I noticed your post before and thought I would look at mine (I forgot to do that). Today I noticed fees coming in from Dec 30! and that was FVF.
YIKES!

·8 months agoDo they not charge the ad fee right away? I thought it was instantly charged but I may have not been paying attention to my profits.

·8 months agoI have noticed it to be either shortly after, which I assume means that buyer clicked the sponsored link. Or roughly 24 hours after the purchase, which I assume means it was clicked but not by the buyer.
This is just another way for ebay to make extra money off its sellers, although I feel its gonna end up doing the opposite and many sellers will abandon promoting some if not all of their listings.

·8 months agoI only sold one promotion since and it was charged later as I notice also.
Which is why I un-listed all but a few promoted items.
Mine showed a delay in the .40 charge as well.
I got excited at first thinking eBay didn't do the promoted charge but did later...😢
