Account suspension/Attorney General complaint
I have been an eBay account holder since 1999. My account was suspended a couple of months ago on the premise that they needed to verify my identity. Twice, I submitted identification with a facial scan and they still have not lifted the restriction.
I have made multiple requests with customer service without resolution. They have told me to check my messages for instructions which tell me nothing more than to contact them. They then tell me that they can't help me because of confidential information that they can't discuss. I attempted to close my account and retrieve funds owed to me.
I spoke to customer service on the phone tonight and the rep stated it is still under review with an empty promise to accelerate the issue. Consumer complaint filed with the AG of California.

As another Californian once said.....“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’â€

I DO know that if you don't sell on a regular basis (ie largely inactive selling account), Ebay wants to verify it's still YOU and not a hijacked account.

·8 months agoA 'facial scan' is NOT an ID.
Did you send a pic of both sides of your Driver License (that matches your address, with name matching EXACTLY what is shown on your Checking/Bank Account as well?
(Some sites want a 'picture' right from a computer AFTER you've submitted a DL since a DL can also be faked).

The AG of California will soon send you a letter stating they can do nothing about it.
