Account restricted despite correct bank verification — payouts held for over a month
Summary: zenith_miniatures is experiencing issues with an eBay account verification loop, where despite providing correct bank documents repeatedly, the account remains restricted and payouts are held. vinnyblackrock524 is facing a similar problem, with eBay failing to acknowledge account verification through Trustly. Both users express frustration at the lack of resolution and consider legal action due to withheld funds. They are looking for ways to escalate the issue to get their accounts verified.
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here (or an eBay moderator) can help, because I’ve been stuck in a verification loop for over a month with no resolution.
About a month before Christmas, I created a new eBay account and sold roughly $1,200 worth of items. All items were shipped and delivered successfully with no buyer issues.
About a month after creating the account, eBay placed a restriction requiring bank account verification, which I completely understand. However, that’s where the problem started.
Here’s what’s happened since:
I’ve uploaded the exact bank document requested every 2–3 days for over a month
I’ve called eBay 30+ times
On more than 20 calls, the automated system said it was outside business hours — even immediately after I had just spoken to an agent
The agents I did reach all said my bank statement matches eBay’s records perfectly and agreed it was unusual that verification kept failing
As of now, $650 in payouts is being held
Important context:
This is my second eBay account
It uses the same bank account, legal name, and phone number as my other account
That other account has no issues with payouts or verification
At this point, I’m not being told what is wrong or what to fix — I’m just asked to re-upload the same document again and again.
Has anyone experienced this?
Is there a way to escalate this to someone who can manually review the verification?
Any help would be seriously appreciated.
Thank you.

·4 days agoI am currently experiencing this same eBay Twilight Zone treatment. I have used eBay for over 20 years. Recently started selling. Sold four items, received payment for one of the four. As eBay requires, I utilized the Trustly platform that links my bank accounts to the eBay pay system. Trustly uses Encrypted connections plus each user's identity is further verified via each bank's Multi-Factor Authentication technology.
I just am perplexed and flabbergasted that eBay is withholding my money under claims that my account cannot be verified, even though my account has already been verified via Trustly
Someone make it make sense! Does a class action suit need to be filed against eBay? eBay has been holding without just cause nearly $700 paid by me to customers but eBay continues this farcical idea that my account cannot be verified.
I have spoken with several representatives at eBay; one guy seems to be genuinely trying to help me but it seems like he is alone and without a ton of influence. I told the guy earlier today that I wish to sever all ties with eBay at this point. I cannot afford to pay seller fees and shipping costs in addition to no longer owning valuables that eBay has allowed me to sell but then refuses to acknowledge me as a valued partner. Instead it seems that eBay is trying to make me into a criminal.

·8 months agoNAME on your bank account, social security card and EBAY profile page must be EXACT MATCH. Legal name only (no nicknames allowed). Check your user profile on EBAY by going to SITE PREFERENCES, PERSONAL INFO (make your name you put in your EBAY account matches name on your documentation).
Right Click on weblink below to update your Site Perferences

Obviously, you cannot change the name on your Social Security Card, so you have to make sure names on all your bank account and EBAY profile match Social Security Card.

·8 months agoWhat kind of items did you sell on the other account?
Have they ask for receipts for the items you sold?
A new account selling $1200 could throw up some red flags.

·8 months agoHad to ask AI, here is there response:
eBay’s payment processor (Adyen) automatically flags accounts when:
Two accounts share the same bank account.
A new account has rapid early sales.
Verification documents don’t match exactly what the automated system expects
(even if they look perfect to human agents).
The system detects “possible duplicate identity†and locks verification into an automated cycle
Once this happens, front-line support cannot fix it, even if they say everything looks correct. They can only tell you to re-upload documents because that’s the only action their interface allows.
That's why you are stuck in a loop.
I suggest you take what you have written here and insert it into AI Copilot, as there are multiple ways of getting out of the loop.
