Account Restricted and payouts on hold. Being told it will take months despite complete transparency
I’m new and sold 25 items, eBay is holding payouts despite the fact I bought shipping from eBay and all items that I had an original receipt for I included in the box to the winning eBay buyer, it says this in the listings and messages, I can’t reward resolution despite perfect feedback and support from the 25 buyers who got some of my personal stuff at really deep discounts. I’m in crisis and needed the money but now I can’t even get them back to sell locally. I’m stuck and scared in Colorado so please help!

·2 years agoContact your buyers ASAP and ask if they still have the receipt-that eBay wants to see your receipts since you are new or maybe they want you to prove you're not selling stolen goods. Offer to send them a pre-stamped envelope.

·2 years agoProbably why you are experiencing the 'more than 30 day 'hold' deal is:
Multiple NEW thermostats would make the story of 'I bought them for me/my house' something they may not believe/want to understand-due to all the recent train and store massive thefts that have gone on recently; then coupled with the 'I don't have the receipts' (reason doesn't matter) fits into the 'we're not the place to sell (what could be construed as possible) stolen goods'.

·2 years agoDo you have a Managed Payments account set up so that eBay can transfer your money to your checking account once the "new seller Hold" is completed?
Was your contact with eBay through phone or by social media Chat?
The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.

·2 years agoYou certainly sold a lot of brand new items, that dont look like 'personal stuff'. Thats probably what put you on Ebays radar.

OP2 years agoYes some of the items I sold were still new in package and listed as such in listing, I just lost my home and have no need of them, I included the original receipt in the purchase for the new buyers in case they needed a warranty document. My buyers have emailed eBay with photos of these

OP2 years agoI’m selling on eBay, I use the standard deduction because I’m within the poverty level of this country. I included the receipts so the buyer could get warranty protection on their purchase, are you a buyer who would say please don’t send me the original receipt with my purchase?

No I wouldnt expect the original receipt with my purchase for warranty purposes. Mainly because the warranty is void if the item is not purchased from the mgfr.

·2 years agoItems don't necessarily have to be purchased directly from the manufacturer in order to have a warranty, but most warranty claims will be accepted with a copy of a receipt. Often, electronics items have date codes or serial numbers that tell the manufacturer whether an item is within the warranty period.

·2 years agoYou are a new seller who sold some relatively pricey items. It is now common for Ebay to place a hold on such funds for up to 60 days to insure they do not get stuck with the bill. There is nothing that you can do other than to be patient and wait.

OP2 years agoNo where does it advise that eBay can hold your fund for 60 days to make sure they don’t get stuck with the bill, there are very specific guidelines as to when holds can be applied past 30 days and none of them apply to me. I have submitted proof of merchandise and identify and delivery and customer satisfaction by reaching out to everyone and asking for help. eBay won’t consider any of these things and still can not tell me which guideline initiated this hold and restriction on my new account.

·2 years agoUnfortunately, funds can be held at Ebays discretion.Read over the U/A you agreed to to sell here. Noone here is on Ebays 'legal team', you have just been given some facts on new sellers criteria on Ebay.

OP2 years agoYes but I didn’t know you needed proof of merchandise on items that were bought two decades ago. I supplied proof on all big ticket items and they are holding every ring because of some $12 item I sold from 1995

As others have advised, your payment hold is policy for new sellers. I feel bad that you jumped in without studying... but eBay is NOT a place for new sellers to get fast cash.
Hang in there and the payouts will start to come. 🙌

OP2 years agofast cash? This means I won’t receive payment for my sales for over 90 days and possibly up to 180 days. In what universe is expecting to get paid within 30 days fast cash? The user agreement states holds could exist for 30 days nowhere does it say that eBay can a arbitrarily extend that to half a year!

·2 years agoLet me guess, they asked you for invoices and a couple of your vendors and you couldn't come up with the documentation they were asking.
Pretty standard procedure for new sellers.

OP2 years agoI don’t have vendors and I included the original receipts of purchase to the new buyers to be a good seller on eBay.

This isn't a requirement to be a good seller. The original receipts are yours... keep them in case you need them later.

OP2 years agoA receipt is a requirement if the buyer expected to get warranty on the item, every response I have gotten is to defend eBay and suggest I shouldn’t help the buyer by giving them the required documents to warranty their purchase. Which side are you on? The community or eBay’s legal defense team?

·2 years agoWhat exactly did eBay tell you and who told you it would take months? Funding holds are not unusual for new sellers but generally those have a max of 30 days. What did eBay tell you would be the cause of it taking "months". You may want to read through the following and come back with some more information if you have it.

OP2 years agoThey said because I included my receipts to the new buyers and can’t submit proof of merchandise on all orders, I can still on some but because I can’t on all orders they are holding all my payouts for 60-70 days. This is direct statement from the Trust and Safety Department. The item I don’t have a receipt for is an antique and was purchased in 1995 when I was 10 years old.

·2 years agoAll new are subject to holds on payouts which can be 14 days or longer. (as are returning sellers who have not sold in the past 90 days)

Do you have an account restriction or just payment holds? If account restriction, what does the message from eBay say or tell you what needs to be done?
The we's here are other buyers and sellers, not eBay employees, so cannot see what is going on with your account.
