Account is prohibited to sell "Clothing, Shoes, & Accessories category"
Hey Ebay Community,
Recently, my account is audited by Ebay although there is no recent transaction at all. I am selling my brand new clothes and accessories. After I provided all the purchase receipts and credit card transaction records to prove the authentication, Ebay still decided to prohibit my account from selling ""Clothing, Shoes, & Accessories category". All my feedbacks are positive and the customer even endorse the authentication of my items. After I send a few emails to Ebay customer service, they did not reply and only replied your account is restricted without telling any concrete reason. I sent an email to appeal my case, and no reply after.
Thus, I am wondering what is the proper appealing process to revoke the restriction since I have been selling at Ebay since 2016 and complied all the rules and policies.
Thanks

·2 years agoI'm switching to a different sellers platform now since they decided to delete a listing for an amazon vest- apparently they dont allow New amazon vest/apparel to be sold now which makes no sense at all and other sellers are selling the same exact vest!! There is something wrong with ebay now!

I'm curious about the reason you have private listings. Most sellers of highly faked items want future buyers to see that they have a history of selling luxury items and for recent listings, those potential buyers can look at the items to verify their provenance. But unfortunately, private listings prevent that and as such, people assume (at worst) or wonder whether you're hiding something.
I understand private listings for personal care items, fetish items and even for lingerie, but for designer items, I see red flags when I can't check the seller's history.
What happened with the Hermes Polo you sold within the last month? I see that a buyer left feedback but the listing doesn't come up and isn't cached.
Between the polo, the private listings, the lack of history and minimal pictures, I think ebay is worried.

OP3 years agoThanks for the comments.
1. I did not list the item as private listings. How can I double check that?
2. All the feedbacks I received are positive.
For the recent polo shirt, the feedback is very positive. It is weird that you folks cannot see the feedbacks. I believe the listing was taken off due to the recent restriction so you folks cannot see it now. I attached tons of pictures for all my listings.

·3 years agoHello and sorry for your plight.
To appeal your restriction, there should be info in your restriction notice email that eBay sent you. (It would be most helpful to see the correspondence from eBay.) what did that last email state about any possible appeal? (Or was this a Vero takedown?)
You may have to wait it out, showing successful transactions with satisfied buyers, and no policy violations in the meantime. That is very important. Then after a year, you could ask to be reinstated.
The likely reason for the restriction is that you are an infrequent seller, who then began to list high-dollar, high-demand, and high-fraud designer goods. Such a change gets eBay’s attention. I could not tell from your feedback at what price points or what you were selling prior as you had your feedback set at private listings.
For future reference, it is prudent to sell more consistently when you want to add in expensive luxury goods, and/or be slow to raise the dollar amount of the goods. eBay looks for a strong showing of successful transactions, a track record of your worthiness as a seller, when you upgrade your goods.
Below is the eBay policy for restrictions and suspensions, if you haven’t seen it. Good luck and hope you get this resolved to your benefit.

·3 years agoThe belief is that if eBay gives you details, that also gives you clues as to how to circumvent restrictions.
You say that you have been selling since 2016 but if this is your selling-ID, it's been awhile since were active and, as you're finding, much has changed
As for your most recent sale, you may have run afoul of Hermes, who does not want just anyone selling their goods, as they believe that damages their reputation and dilutes their brand. Yes, you can sell something used that you bought for yourself and now want to get rid of -- but selling "brand new" Hermes items? Probably not.
Anyhow, you can try contacting eBay on Facebook or Twitter, as others have said they get reasonable responses there.

Would you mind posting the email you got from Ebay. Make sure you black out any personal information.

OP3 years ago>> From Ebay
After careful consideration, we have decided to restrict your account indefinitely from listing in the Clothing, Shoes, & Accessories category. You are still able to list and sell items in other categories; however, you will not be able to list in this category any longer. We know you may be disappointed with this decision but please understand we have taken this action to help ensure a safer buying and selling environment on eBay.
Some of the things we look at when reviewing accounts for category restrictions are:
-- How much history a member has selling these types of items on the site.
-- Positive selling Feedback for the items in question.
-- Any Feedback that questions the authenticity of the items.
-- Unresolved disputes with buyers for these items.
-- Compliance with eBay policies.
-- Previous account suspensions or eBay policy violations.
-- The current status of your account.
-- Any supplier information that cannot be verified.
Keep in mind that you are restricted for this type of item or category with any eBay account. Any associated accounts circumventing the outline of our decision, will be suspended with no chance for appeals. This may also affect your current account and appeals processes it may hold in the future.

·3 years agoSadly sometimes it take multiple attempts at contacting Ebay to get anything resolved. A few posts back I gave you links to the various ways you can contact Ebay. I suggest that you go to Social Media and contact them on Twitter or Facebook. You usually will get better service there.

·3 years agoJust an educated guess here.
You must have had issues in the past involving clothing.
Now ebay is prohibiting you from selling clothing.
Good luck getting your selling privileges restored.

·3 years agoour active listings are Hermes.
If your listings which in other categories which are blocked are Hermes, I suspect that VeRO and Ebay's anti-counterfeiting efforts are affecting you.
There is a history of legal issues between Ebay and Hermes.
I have pretty much posted all I know about why Ebay may be taking this action, other than anti-counterfeiting has risen as a concern for all Internet marketplaces.
This is not an accusation of any wrong doing on your part, but Ebay's silence is also not an accusation and may be deliberate to avoid the risks of libeling you.
