Account Above Standard with 0% Defect Rate Restricted for BBE – Need Advice on Appeal Options
Summary: smsmart356 is facing a permanent selling restriction on eBay despite having strong account metrics and is seeking advice on navigating this issue. Several participants noted that such restrictions might stem from unaddressed Buyer Experience (BBE) issues separate from general performance metrics. Some speculated non-compliance with eBay policies, like incorrect item locations or drop shipping practices, as potential triggers. Others clarified that permanent suspensions have no appeal process, emphasizing the importance of monitoring the BBE dashboard and comparing performance with peers. The discussion highlighted a lack of clear appeal routes for restricted accounts.
Hi Everyone,
I am seeking advice and guidance from experienced sellers and eBay moderators regarding a permanent selling restriction placed on my account due to BBE (Buyer Experience).
Here is a quick overview of my current account performance metrics:
Seller Level: Above Standard
Transaction Defect Rate: 0.00%
Cases Closed Without Seller Resolution: 0.00%
Late Shipment Rate: 0.00%
Overall Metrics: Fully compliant with 0% defects
Despite maintaining strong metrics and adhering strictly to eBay policies, my account unexpectedly received a permanent selling privilege restriction citing BBE. I prioritize customer satisfaction, upload valid tracking promptly, and maintain transparent communication with all buyers.
Since my seller dashboard metrics show zero defects, I am unable to identify the specific trigger for this action, and standard customer support has not provided detailed insight.
If anyone in the community has navigated a similar situation, I would appreciate your insights on the following:
What hidden factors or buyer signals typically trigger a BBE restriction when public dashboard metrics remain clean (0% defect rate)?
Is there a formal appeal route, manual review request, or specific department (such as Risk Management / BBE Review Team) to present an account review?
Any guidance or recommended steps on how to effectively address this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!

·Aug 11, 2026 at 5:10 PMYou were not "adhering strictly to eBay policies"
You lied about the item location on your listings.

The BBE Dashboard is not hidden at all. Here is a link to the BBE policy, which explains all about it. The BBE is completely separate from the seller performance standards which you mentioned. It is possible to have zero defects on the one set, and have issues with the BBE.
Export sellers (those who sell on eBay.com but are not based in the USA) need to monitor the BBE dashboard every week or so, and take action when issues arise there.

Unfortunately no, there is no appeal process for BBE issues. The requirements are statistically based, and your dashboard and performance are available for you to review at any time. You are being compared to the performance of other export sellers who are in similar selling situation as yourself. So if you are not performing as well as your peers, then you will be restricted. They always give warnings first, but if your account does not improve, the restrictions will be made permanent.
Once eBay has implemented a permanent restriction, there is no way to appeal that or recover your account. eBay will only evaluate your account for BBE as long as you have recent transactions to be evaluated. Once your sales have stopped, and you are not getting any new transactions, then they will not evaluate your account again.

Ebay got it right.

·1 month agoFirst. It's a permanent suspension . That means no appeal is possible.
Secondly, I am guessing you had some items not arrive (but refunded to make the buyer whole) or had a few not as described cases. With ebay it does not matter that you corrected the issues. If even an issue pops up that counts against you. And with sellers in other countries you only get a couple of those before you are suspended.
In this case your metrics make no difference. The fact that you had some issues is enough for ebay to suspend you.

·1 month agoNothing you have listed helps resolve your issue any any way. The notice itself spells out the exact reasons why. Not all this information above. Also - you would have to go through your local jurisdiction ebay and not the US as an international user. Those local policies will be what apply to you.
