Absolute Hell..
Summary: yofish1 describes challenges with updating banking and personal information on eBay after not selling for three years. Living in a rural area with only a PO Box complicates address verification, despite attempting various suggestions. Other participants advise using the post office's physical address or opening an online checking account to satisfy matching criteria required by eBay. yofish1 eventually contacted eBay directly, resolving the issue through a phone conversation after several failed online attempts, and successfully restored their ability to sell.
How do I make this comprehensible?
I've been here for 25 yrs buying and selling. Haven't sold in over 3 yrs and now wanting to again, find I have to update my banking and personal info. Everything I will relay here USED to work just ducks.
1) live in Alaska, rual, PO Box, no mail delivery. When I enter EXACT instructions from my PO to update shipping address EB says "NOPE!"
2) Same bank since they trashed paypal, EB, NOPE! Try a debit card from Schwab, EB, NOPE! "that's a credit card." The only card I have that has DEBIT clearly printed on it.
3) Every single credit card and bit of billing mail goes to my NOPE! address
Twice I've gone through the stupid picture verification, get a "We are reviewing" and two days later a NOPE! without a single bit of guidance as to why and now they tell me I have until the 16th of next month to straighten this out "or else?"
I have only one bill (electrical) that has both my psychical and box number addresses, that's it. The online help, which I've never used in the past for no need, is completely worthless.. I've asked Gemini 3 times and get a variation on a theme. The only useful thing I got was from Gemini was "EVERYTHING HAS TO MATCH!" Well I'm here to say no way will my physical address be the same as the name on my only checking acct which has the word COMPANY after my name. Am I wrong to think that there is no simple way outta this?

OP2 weeks agoThe latest: so I finally was able to contact by phone via chat, repeatedly typing I want to talk to a HUMAN. Waited only 5 mins or so for a call back and got a human. The first layer was a person I had a hard time understanding for accent. When she realized it needed to go up, it did. Fairly long conversation with a nice young man that spoke perfect English. He asked me to do a couple things while logged in and finished with "You will be fine in 48 hrs." He gave a long rap about compliance issues and such. and recognized I have been a user for over 20yrs. All as I can say right now is all the flags on my account are now gone. I haven't yet tried selling so fingers crossed. All the time I tried online was a waste. I hope this provides some value. Mind you, I haven't tried it yet, so..

OP1 week agoI have no idea what that young man did but I'm back to selling and made a sale that cleared and I used ebay for flat-rate usps. All he worked me through was verifying my bank account which was just clicking once which as I said I'd done several times before with rejection. He didn't ask me to change anything or any more forms of verification. Viola!

·2 weeks agoCheck with your post office, many USPS post offices allow you to use the post office address as a location and your PO box number as an extension after the zip code.
yofish1
OP2 weeks agoThey will only allow your physical address with No. or # and your box number afterwards. Problem is, none of my verifying documents have that nor will they ever. Thanks for the reply.

·2 weeks agoYour problem @yofish1 is like others have said. You can not use a PO Box address for your Registered address or for your or your legal address.
This is NOT something Ebay has control over as the identity verification has rules and laws they MUST comply with for federal regulations like the INFORM Consumers Act
What I've heard that some do is use your local PO's address. Their street address as your address. Other than that, IDK how you resolve this issue, you may need to contact Ebay directly to find out for sure. And yes EVERYTHING has to match. That is also required by Law, not just something Ebay dreamed up to annoy us all.

·2 weeks agoEBAY requires that you provide your checking account number, social security# and other identification. NAME on social security card, checking account and EBAY account must be EXACT MATCH. Legal Name only (no nicknames allowed).
EBAY deposits only directly into your checking account after sale is made.
I would use the address shown on your electric bill (also include PO Box). It is important to show correct address because if customer "returns item to you" address must be complete.
Other users that only have a P.O. address (use the post office address and their box number). That seems to satisfy EBAY requirements.
Important thing is that all the documentation you provide to EBAY shows the "same address" (otherwise EBAY may deny your application).
Good luck to you and I hope everything works out good.

·2 weeks agoA PO box won't work, you need an actual address and it has to match your bank and Ebay account.

·2 weeks agoFor the physical address (PO), it may work for you to put the address of your post office after the PO Box.
You can open an online checking account to direct your funds - a lot of people do this to keep finances separate. Make sure name/address match.
Money handling companies like Adyen/eBay are very strict in their criteria due to fraud - we're all stuck with having to deal with it.

·2 weeks agoYou are not wrong. If you want to sell on eBay, you have to meet eBay's criteria. They are not going to adjust them to accomodate your situation.
