A padlock was misplaced before shipping to the buyer from the NJ authenticator
A Hermes Birkin. Passed the authentication inspection. The day the buyer received the package she claimed no padlock included. Asked her to look inside the zipper pocket and the original box, dust bags throughly and etc. no lock found. Now she filed a return. Trying to speak to ebay human support with the situation. Can’t reach anyone but AI recording. Any tips to open a case with the authenticator?

·4 months agoAuthenticator would not have approved your item and mailed item to the customer if it was "missing parts". Returned item will have a pass "authentication" and if it is "missing parts" it will be returned to the customer (no refund). See EBAY policy below when customer return "authenticated" item.
In the unlikely event that you receive an item that does not match the listing, you may be eligible for eBay Money Back Guarantee. This generally means you can return it even if the seller doesn't accept returns, for example if the item was damaged during shipping. However, some items are considered "final sale" and have limited coverage under eBay Money Back Guarantee.
When you're returning an item, we'll give you a return shipping label to send it back to the authenticator. They'll check that the item is still in the same condition and has all relevant accessories. This includes any original manufacturer tags on the item when it was sent. Once the item has been re-inspected, you'll receive a full refund and the item will be returned to the seller.
If the authenticator determines the returned item is not the same item that was originally authenticated, or is not in the same condition as when it was authenticated, the item will be sent back to you and you won't receive a refund. Learn more about our Condition of returned items policy.

·4 months agoUgh! This is awful.
The "good" thing is that for a return, the bag will have to go back to the authenticator for them to verify that it's the same bag in the same condition and exactly as the buyer received it.
I don't know how they handle a case like this but if I were the buyer, I'd include a HUGE note, one that they can't miss when they open the package at the authenticator. I'd write on the note that the padlock was missing when received by the buyer but having been authenticated by ebay as being "as described and pictured," they are responsible for the loss.
Hopefully, they'll eat the loss, issue the refund to the buyer and let you keep the funds.
This is how it's supposed to work. Not sure how it will work on an item at this pricepoint.
