Soooo ?!? Because I shipped them “uncuffed†is this an INAD? If you’d like to wear them cuffed, would you not just cuff them? 🤔 Some people like the choice, so I always let buyers know if they are factory cuffed (sewn) or if they can also wear them “uncuffedâ€.
I’ve never received a message like this.

If they're sold as cuffed, then I would measure them as cuffed and ship them as cuffed.
I wouldn't state anything about uncuffed -- too much room for confusion on the part of someone who is not operating with the same thought process.

That could work … in the past I’ve had people ask if they are factory cuffed (sewn), so years ago I started doing the cuffed/un-cuffed measurements and letting buyers know that they could wear them either way. This worked, until this morning. I will certainly be taking yours and others great advice from here forward.

Believe from now on I will certainly be taking photos of jeans that qualify, cuffed AND uncuffed. Also shipping the way the first photo shows them.
Always better to play it safer than not ... though in almost 9 years of selling ... this question was a first.

·1 year agoWith 2 legs, you could show one cuffed and the other un- just to avoid any confusion that could come from 2 different photos. I'm straining real hard to imagine how .... um .... "challenged" one would need to be to get confused by such things, but apparently that's necessary.

Look at item 396393830420. The top and the bottom are the same but one end has the mirror and one end has a base weight. I worked at this company for 27 years and I can't tell you how many times we got phone calls from customers because they could not see their reflection when they looked into it. "Did you try looking in the other end?" "No, I didn't even think of that! Oh, now it works!" I never did figure out why people didn't even think to try that, especially because the weight end is heavier and logically would go on the bottom...but a lot of them obviously didn't think that way.

Absolutely serious. It happened many, many times over the years. Even with that little sticker on the bottom.
It got to where I thought there must be some kind of common sense block in some people's brains. I think that is what happened to @kickin.assets post here. Her buyer had that "common sense block".

That’s a good idea or maybe do a split screen, so first photo shows both? I’m straining also as this is the first time I’ve ever had this come up. Never believed or actually even thought about it once as being an issue? Apparently it is/can be, for some?
I’ve learned something new today and will do better going forward.
I’m blessed with so many wonderful buyers, but wow, sometimes you just have to realize that not all are playing with a full deck! 😂

·1 year agoI wish I knew who originated this clever piece of advice because it sure is a goodie: Write your description as if there are no photographs, and use photographs as if there is no description. -I would say the second one is arguably more true, because whether on the web or the app, a listing's photos are always at the very top of the screen whereas the description is buried to some degree, may even require an extra click, and lots of buyers simply do not read them.
So, you mentioned using a split screen -if you know how to do that, then you probably know how to add text too, and I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: DO IT, at least for the most important things you want or need your buyers to understand. Yes it's technically against policy to include text in photos, but the actual concern is sellers doing it to get past the bot detection of personal contact info in the description and IS entries. I still do this fairly rarely because I don't want to push the envelope, but in some cases I think it's well worth it.

·1 year agoI put text in photos on a fairly regular basis - I frankly think eBay doesn't care, and I don't sneak personal contact info in there, etc., which is what I really think is the reason behind 'no text'.

If you truly want to tell people whether they are factory cuffed or not, I would say something like "These are not factory cuffed, but you can roll them up and wear them cuffed if you want. "
And if I wanted to show that they could be worn both ways, I would picture them both ways. (Or at the very least, I would ship them the same way they were pictured).
IMHO not everyone can be expected to draw the same conclusions from the sentence fragment "Shown cuffed, but measured uncuffed".
IMHO it is always wise to play to the lowest common denominator.

That’s pretty much how I replied. I’m just dumbfounded by the “common sense†(lack of) 😂 OR it’s a ploy? Item was purchased March 4th, received March 10th. So why say this now? Their 30 free returns is up in 3 days.

·1 year agoI once had a buyer that was upset because they ordered an item with a design on it and they didn't see the image. With the location of the graphic on one corner, it was covered by the packaging. When I pointed that out they were both happy to get what they ordered and also a little embarrassed they didn't realize on their own. Stuff like that happens.
As for timing - I have a few packages that have been sitting for a couple weeks waiting to be opened because life has been hectic. Stuff like that happens, too. It's not always nefarious. 🤷
If you spend a lot of time on this forum which is comprised mostly of complaints, everything will become suspicious. 😂

They are the same jeans you purchased. As indicated in the item description, "shown cuffed, but measured uncuffed," I uncuffed them to provide measurements. If you prefer to wear them cuffed all you have to do is fold up the hems. 🙂
