A buyer opened a request for me claiming that he did not receive the item
I contacted him by message telling him this
Hello good morning. I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but I ask you if I check the surroundings of your house because the delivery people usually leave it near the front door or backyard, I leave a photo so that you can confirm if it is your home please
this was his answer I sold him a package of 100 dollar bills for video
They mistake is a money they took it anything else you can do
I don't know what to do, it is a sale that does not have much value, I will reimburse the buyer and avoid ebay intervening

·3 years agoIf the thief tries to use them...he actually can be arrested and much more. Sometimes, a bad thing can become a good thing even though it "does not have much value"....and can cost you the seller a little bit of money.

There are a LOT of potential implications here for the buyer, the seller and potentially even eBay since they are the merchant of record. At a minimum they assisted the in distribution of counterfeit currency.

With all due respect...please refrain from making any more "play" copy money or you will have more than Ebay to fear. Counterfeiting is a serious offense and is punishable with a prison sentence. I know that's not what you want. This was not a good idea and there could be serious repercussions. Don't make fake money anymore.

I'm at a loss for words. You actually sell stacks of counterfeit hundred dollar bills?? Tell me that the 'COPY' and 'PLAY MONEY' marks can't be washed. Please tell me that.
- But, if you shipped an order via First Class (and I assume with tracking), a 'Delivered' scan wins you an INR claim.
ETA: I'm with you... I'd want to avoid eBay intervening, too. Jeez...

It doesn't really matter how you mark them. There are a lot more factors and you are probably close if not counterfeiting.
Counterfeiting Is a Serious Crime
Counterfeiting U.S. currency is a federal crime. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Manufacturing counterfeit United States currency violates Title 18, Section 471 of the U.S. Code, and you can get 15 years or more in prison if convicted.
Even holding counterfeit United States currency can send you to jail if you are doing so with "fraudulent intent," meaning an intention to pass the fake money off as real money. These strict rules also apply to coins. Counterfeiting any coin more valuable than a nickel carries the same penalties.
Copying Is Also Forbidden
Making photocopies of paper currency of the United States violates another section of the code, Title 18, Section 474 of the U.S. Code. Also forbidden under the statute: printed reproductions of checks, bonds, postage stamps, revenue stamps and securities of the United States and foreign governments. Those who violate this law can be fined up to $5,000 and/or be sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
Copying Without Criminal Intent
Can you ever make a copy of a U.S. bill? Or use a photo of one in a booklet or pamphlet, or for a theater performance? It is possible to do this legally if you follow very strict guidelines.
These rules are designed to allow pictures or copies of currency for advertisements, movies or other purposes without coming close to a counterfeiting operation.

They may be a good call. You are also protecting the buyer since it is also illegal to have the copied currency.

This is one eBay needs to get ahold of and handle before the FBI or the Treasury Department does. It would be in eBay's own best interest to do so.

I don't believe the OP was intentionally aware of all the issues with the bills. Their original post was about a delivery problem but it spiraled, for good reason, into all the other issues with the listing. It appears they are doing everything they can do do correct all the problems associated with this transaction.
Hopefully the OP notifies whomever they originally obtained the bills from and this supply is shutdown before the FBI or Treasury investigate it.

OP3 years agoYes, it has tracking but I don't know why fedex marked the postal code different from the delivery address. I think the buyer is taking advantage of the situation but he already told me by message that the photo of where the package was left is in his house but that the package was taken by someone else

You are aware that you, as the seller, are no longer liable in that case, right?
PS: It would have been good if you'd mentioned that fact in your opening message.

·3 years agoPerhaps the thief is just cruising the neighborhood and sees an unattended package on the porch or by the door. Does he really have time to open the package to make sure it's worth stealing? If he steals say 5 or so per day, at least one of them has to be worth risking a jail term for, right?

OP3 years agoHe told me that by message but my fear is that the tracking marks the delivery in a different zip code than his. I am afraid that the case will be escalated to ebay and they will mark a defect

When the secret service comes to your warehouse and ask for them politely.
You give them to the two agents.
