·2 weeks agoThe holiday one is coming in Oct too.... I never understand that one because they have more business so they should have more cash to hire their temps.

Those are the ones I'm aware of. Still too many, but not all increased everything. The second one in July and the one in August were zone / rural specific.
Plus Media Mail went down a little bit. Not a lot, but down nonetheless.

·2 weeks agoAnd yet Congress still hasn't stopped requiring the USPS to pre-pay the pensions of all employees. They could lower shipping rates and break even if that requirement was rescinded (although once rates have gone up it'll be hard to push them back down). If you're really angry, contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to fix it, because they could.

·2 weeks agohahaha, all politicians do is talk and no action, Josh Hawley has the biggest mouth and nothing. Been writing him for the last 6 yrs, "oh we'll look into it", "oh the post master general shouldn't get a huge bonus losing money", no action. The Oct 4th has already been approve by the board of governors, .40 increase for zone 1-4 and .55 increase for zones 5-9. From Jan to Oct it will a rate increase of almost $5 for packages under 12 oz.

·2 weeks agoshrug Sure, writing to legislators is often a waste of time, but honestly, it just takes one or two congresspeople to read a letter (well, for their staff to read it) and decide to address the issue to get it back on the radar. My state only has Republicans at the moment so I don't think action on my part is going to be the catalyst either. I guess I could try the small business card. Anyway, as long as the USPS has the huge financial drain of their bizarre pension setup, they will struggle to be profitable. I also don't think they should have to be profitable but that's something else entirely. If one part of their financial pressure was relieved, than the rate increases would be harder to justify.

·2 weeks agoOh, I get it, same here, red state too. I've written them and even wrote are 3 news channel and pulling the disable veteran small business owner card(true), crickets. Only reason any of our politicians have spoke on TV is because USPS has dumped 3 loads of mail in down town St. Louis MO, found a huge pile of mail in a empty lot and people not getting their mail until after bills were due or even getting their mail. I guess I had to climb up a side of a building and hold a sign.

·2 weeks ago. . . maybe because they have to pay employees to screen ballots as well as handle mail? That could cause budget issues. But that's just a guess. Maybe they're not related at all.

·2 weeks agothe same person put cronies in charge of USPS to do literally what the OP is complaining about... since.. that person... came into office the cost of shipping via USPS has nearly tripled in cost
