5000 feedback
Summary: inhawaii was considering celebrating their 5000th feedback customer but hesitated due to the platform's introduction of auto-feedback. mkaczorsee suggested only acknowledging feedback left manually and tracking it accordingly. mam98031 defended the auto-feedback system, saying it benefits sellers by ensuring more consistent feedback, as buyers can still leave manual feedback which overrides auto-feedback. zakstreasuretrove proposed celebrating sales milestones instead of feedback. Other participants reacted with brief remarks or inquiries about the intended special activity.
I was planning on doing something special for my 5000th feedback customer but now that we have auto-feedback I'm having second thoughts. I don't want to do something for a customer who I received auto-feedback from. Has anyone else ever done something like that?

·2 weeks agoI'm unsure as to why some still don't understand why Ebay made this move to auto feedback. It only benefits and helps sellers. It does nothing to the buyers nor does it take their right to leave feedback away. You don't even have to display them if you don't want to, there is the option on the feedback page and it defaults to not showing them.
So you prefer a time when sellers feedback numbers were driven by the minority of buyers that actually leave feedback? When about only 1/3rd of buyers ever leave feedback, but had full control over our feedback percentages. When most sellers had so many more transactions with no feedback by buyers, but they weren't considered in the fb numbers because they didn't leave feedback. When one negative could tank some sellers percentages because they had so few buyers leaving feedback even though they had many more other transaction, successful transactions, that buyers didn't leave feedback.
Your account is a great example. You have about 18k sales on your account but only 3,614 buyer feedback represent those sales. 3,614 / 18,000 feedback = 20%. So under the old method, that 20% of buyers had full control over your feedback numbers.

·2 weeks agoMaybe base the special event around items sold instead of feedback. 5000 items sold or something like that.

·2 weeks agoNice concept…and you can still do it…but, keep count so you truly get the 5000th feedback customer. My thoughts are automatic feedback does not count.

Sellers have been asking for something like this for years. We use to have our feedback numbers driven by a minority of actual transactions / buyers because only about 1/3rd ever leave FB. That was completely unfair to sellers to have our numbers dependent on such a small number of our actual transactions. FINALLY Ebay came up with a solution.
Auto feedback takes nothing away from the buyers that want to leave feedback, even if they want to leave it after the auto feedback is left. Buyers have up to 60 days to leave feedback and if there has been auto feedback left, whatever feedback the buyer decides to leave will replace the auto feedback.
This is a very good change for all sellers. We all benefit from it.
