Just an hour ago (7/27/2026) I received a message from eBay stating:
"Keep your listings up to date with standard sizes
Starting in August, we’re standardizing sizes across Apparel and Footwear listings to help your items show up in searches and give buyers clearer sizing information.
To continue listing and selling without interruption, review and update your listings to use supported sizes before this change takes effect. Please note that you’ll be unable to create or revise listings with unsupported sizes."
I don't understand why eBay would only give 4 days from the day this is told to sellers that any listing that has an unsupported size can no longer be fixed.
Giving each seller a list of the offending listings would be a proactive way of handling this.
But telling sellers that the listings they have up there cannot even be revised starting in August? Why would eBay make it so sellers can't revise a listing that has an unsupported size?
Thank God I'm not a full time clothing seller, so I only have a few items to go thru to check sizing on. As it is, I believe my sizing is already done correctly, but I don't know 100% for sure. So now I have to take time out and look at every listing to see if they meet these new guidelines. Are the sizes I have currently good enough for eBay's new standards? Wish there was a way to know. Wish there was a way to check listings to see if they were ok. Submit something and have it spit out the listings that need to be looked at, rather than just create a problem for the seller on all clothing and shoe listings. Does this include hats? I don't know.
4 days. Seems like there could have been a couple month notice and more help to the sellers.

·1 week agoWhen updating listings for clothing sizing, when the listing is a multiple listing. In the size box drop down, not the variations box, is LG, M, SM allowed. or does this need to be updated. If so what do you put in the size box. Thanks

·1 week ago · EditedDon't know why sellers are just now seeing this. This was announced months ago. I think it was in a newsletter, but not totally sure on it. It was announced somewhere.
I received an email reminder about it July 15th. I have not gone through my listings, so I need to do that.

·1 week agoI have a feeling that many of my listings will have to be moved to another platform. I sell lots of 2-piece suits where the jacket is a different size than the skirt/ pants. I always type into the size box both sizes (ie, 14 / 16). Moving forward, if I'm not allowed to do this, I won't list it here. If I only type one of the sizes into the item specifics, then I'm opening myself up to an INAD and I'm not willing to pay for that.
I know ebay has millions of sellers, so they won't miss my few little suit sales. We all will adapt to the changes.

·1 week ago · EditedYep, I sell baby clothing and most brands don't use ebays "standard" sizing. I am having to relist a ton of variation listings as individual listings for each size so I can put the manufacturer size in title and description and the closest match for item specific. I got that email last week and I am still not done, I will probably not finish by August 1 :( ebay will not allow 6-12 months anymore despite it being a very common size.

·1 week agoMy concern is that I sell bras, I mainly focus on big sizes and cups .
The updated size options do not include several cup sizes that I regularly sell, such as K, L, M, N, and O cups. Because these sizes are not available in the new size chart, I am unable to accurately list these bras.
Could you please advise how sellers are supposed to list bras in these larger cup sizes? Will these cup sizes be added to the new sizing options?
It is important that we are able to select the actual size shown on the manufacturer's label so buyers can find the correct size and sellers can list their inventory accurately.
Somebody have the authority to let eBay know about this?

·1 week agoThe notification says that we will be able to add our own sizes if the default sizes do not cover our needs. Hopefully that will work.

·1 week agoYes - I really think one reason for this is to try to regularise sizing across the clothing market, though TBH, most sellers use sizes as one cannot list without them, so I kind of thought the whole thing was a bit redundant.

·1 week agoA futile attempt IMHO. Different manufacturers have different measurements for their sizes. It simply is not the same across all manufacturers. Not just international but inside the USA too. Or at least that has been my experience.

·1 week agoI think it's also an attempt to try to corral the unruly mob that is clothing and accessories on eBay. They have to somehow create taxonomy that allows some kind of coherent search. They'll never please everybody. I do think, however, that they can be more intelligent about it - it took years for them to mostly fix the mess they made the first time they tried to impose some kind of search criteria (2019) when they had materials like "wood" and some kind strange fungus under "material".

·1 week ago · EditedThis was actually announced a while ago in updates - what we just got were reminders. If you have already used eBay IS's in the sizing, you should be good to go.
ETA: Sorry, I can't give the exact date when it was first announced - at least in June, though IIRC.

OP1 week agoFirst I had seen of it. Perhaps it was buried in an announcement or eBay open event or something. Either way, getting an email about the update and telling sellers their listings will be unable to be edited seems like a poor way to handle the situation. I went thru all of my listings and found a couple with sizing information that appeared to be wrong. Probably me in my rush to list an item. But I still think there is a better way to handle this type of communication, much less a listing that doesn't comply to what they want.

·1 week agoThis truly is an awful company. The only reason there’s so much defragmentation in sizes was because of the miserable IT here that forced sellers to find a way to add multiple sizes into a field that forces you to add something to the “size”.
Now it’s telling us that those same listings won’t be displayed due to the sizing not being up to the standard. They could have fixed all the sizing glitches some time ago.
Now there’s no way to address this issue on multi-option, multi-size listings as the singular size field won’t go away, removing the cluster of sizes or any other verbiage trying to denote multiple sizes still forces you to add a size, eBay’s system will only recognize one size as being valid. It’s a complete cluster-F.
The only solution is to create new listings of every old listing that have multi-options from scratch as the change in size coding isn’t retroactive.

·1 week agoOh, there's no doubt that the taxonomy was completely screwed up to begin with. It was pretty obvious that no one bothered to actually consult with anyone in the industry.
