37 to 1 ! My item has 37 different listings from the same other eBay store right on my page.
37 to 1.
My item # 195905999154, a diamond ring mounting, has unbelievably 37 other listings from 1 different eBay store of their 37 diamond ring mountings for sale by them!
Other people’s products items too are also on this listing page but still 37 listings on my 1 item description page are from 1 different eBay store.
Not good odds 37 to 1…

·3 years agoTbh, I don't think anyone interested in your mount would be remotely interested in any of the "other items" shown.

·3 years agoThose listings have been there for several years, the only difference is that it has only been recently that they have shown when a seller looks at their own listings. Anyone else has been seeing them for at least the last 3 years.

I know that! But I never saw this before…
But this 1 item of mine, the diamond mounting, has 37 other items, 37 diamond mountings, from one other single solitary eBay seller…
My selling page has my 1 item put there by me as I’m selling it and 37 items put there of a different eBay store also selling in direct competition with me, his various 37 diamond mountings.

·3 years agoAre people using eBay differently than I am? When I click on your listing, this is what I see. I don't scroll down and look at anything else. I look at YOUR item and decide if I like it or not. This seems like a non-complaint to me but I keep seeing it.

·3 years agoIts issues like this that convinced me to shut down my store. I'd much rather have a store front that represents the products I sell, and apparently that's not possible on ebay. I don't have this issue on other platforms either.

·3 years agoI am not sure how I feel about this subject, but, how about a contrarian view for this?
If that many 'competitors' IDENTICAL (not similar) items would show up on my listing page, it would enhance my superior listing that has clear, bright, detailed pictures, accurate descriptions and relevant information/item specifics to instantly compare the superiority of my item to all the other wannabes.
I am confident my listing is more appealing than most of my competitors.
Give the buyer confidence looking at your listing compared to the others.

·3 years agoebay does not care who's listing is superior, the algorithm decides what gets shown to buyers, and what doesn't. There's nothing you can do to control placement, and the quality of ones listings makes no difference. ebay often ranks listings that have little to no description at all.

I don't care what ebay thinks is superior....
My reference is to the buyer/window shopper/ surfer........
When a buyer is looking at my item (which has professional looking pictures, detailed descriptions, etc...) and "compares" it to the amateurish, i don't care type listing showing up on my listing, I win everytime (almost)..
Admittedly, there can be an argument made that 'sometimes' it is better to look like you are not a "professional" seller, but that is not applicable to all categories. (In other words, a "stock photo" (pro) may not be better than a homemade amateur picture for some categories/items in the perception of the buyer)
Just thinking out loud..........offering up a 'flip side' to ebay displaying promoted listings on individual listing pages and saying it 'could' be a good thing for you......

Ebay doesn't care whose listings are superior to others, but the buyers you want certainly do!
When I'm searching to buy an item, the first thing I look at is the photo and then the title. If that bad photo or carelessness in the title shows a lack of concern about how a seller presents his/her item, I immediately pass over it. Superior photos, as well as a properly proofread title and more thorough and descriptive details once I click on the item, gets my attention and usually my purchase. It's a simple matter of what stands out to grab my attention and the care in which an item is presented and detailed.
Make sure your item stands out... especially in the jewelry categories, where there can be hundreds or even thousands of listings to compete against.

·3 years agoPromoted, demoted, exploded, or imploded, if your price is not right aND YOUR DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS stink it makes no difference.

·3 years agoPrice, photos, and description are irrelevant, the argument I'm making here is ebay forces sellers to cannibalize each other on price by putting the same/similar items from 50 different sellers all into one listing.
ebay charges sellers for a store front that doesn't even represent the products they sell. Click on any listing, and ebay tells you not to buy it, instead look at these 100 other listings, its absurd.
ebay wants to force sellers to sell everything at a loss, its pure greed. No matter how low your price is, ebay will force your competitors to drop theirs, no one wins except for ebay.

Maybe I should ask for commission if someone buys from my page an item from that 1 store that advertises their 37 items, also diamond mountings, on my page…

My view shows 97 other listings on you page. Not all by the same seller, and not all are ring mounts, but there are more than is being shown to you.

When I view your item, I see 61 listings from other sellers, not 37.
