27 Years Selling and Payouts put on Hold
Summary: wormholecomicscards shared frustrations about eBay holding payouts due to reaching an internal sales threshold. Despite having a long-standing account with 100% feedback, they are facing issues with cash flow as shipping costs exceed delivered sales, leading to a negative balance. dhbookds questioned the need to stop selling, while ten_o_nine suggested using alternative payment methods for shipping costs. tobaccocardyahoo and mam98031 explained that such holds are common for sellers returning after a hiatus, with mam98031 advising wormholecomicscards to contact eBay for clarification.
Hello,
I've had my ebay account since Feb 1999. I have 10k+ feedback, 100%, top rated seller, etc. I was out of the country for 18 months so didn't do much selling. I came back in June and went hardcore on selling since I have 5 storage units full of stuff. For the 1st 5 or 6 weeks I was getting daily payouts, but I met some internal threshold in sales for a short period of time that ebay says I won't get any payouts until 2 days after delivery. I'm primarily selling $5-$20 comics.
I am buying shipping labels through ebay. My available funds are always negative because every day I'm shipping more than is being delivered so I haven't had a payout in a week. I basically have to stop selling anything for like 2 weeks so deliveries get caught up and I can finally get a payout. But if I stop, whatever BS metrics they are using to determine getting me off the payout restriction will only get delayed.
Being punished for having 100% feedback and 100% deliveries seems pretty silly. If I was a new seller selling big $$ items thats one thing, but they can clearly see that I'm shipping everything, have 100% feedback and according to their own metrics am a top rated seller.

·2 weeks agoAt the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
You should save this information as it can come in handy from time to time. At the very bottom is a link in which you can request Ebay to call you.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

·2 weeks agoThere are payment hold rules for ALL returning sellers after a period of time away. I had to work with it myself because I was gone the first 6 months or so of this year. Annoying, but it is the rules. Here is what the rule says:
When a seller is a Casual seller or been away from selling for about 90+ days, Ebay also may hold funds for a period of time until you have a bit of current experience under your belt. Usually no more than maybe 10 or so newer transactions.
An occasional seller
Sellers who haven't yet established a strong, consistent track record or who don't have any recent selling history will typically receive their funds 24 hours after delivery confirmation (for tracked items), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking).
If you previously qualified to receive your funds faster as a new seller, you may experience this hold if you haven’t sold in a while. If you do, you’ll receive your funds 2 days after delivery confirmation or 14 days after the buyer pays.

What I find odd here is that you have been back awhile and you have enough sales to recover TRS. Ebay should not be holding funds on you anymore unless there is something else happening. Have you contacted Ebay? If you haven't, you should and find out why what is happening to you is and see if you can get it fixed.

·2 weeks agoThese holds are likely to disappear or be reduced in their length as you earn Ebay's trust.
Your hiatus from selling has subjected you to being treated like a new seller. The large number of unethical and criminal sellers has made it necessary to select who can be trusted and who cannot. Ebay buyers are protected from many of the undesirable sellers, and Ebay has developed automated systems of holds to protect itself from having to underwrite damage to buyers performed by these outlaws.
Similar holds exist on other internet marketplaces, and even PayPal applies holds to new merchants.
It feels rotten when you are the target of these actions, but many Ebay sellers would go ballistic if they needed to pass a credit check to sell on Ebay.

·2 weeks agoYou already have the stuff and so cash flow wouldn't be needed for stock.....don't understand the burden......shipping is charged against your sales, so you shouldn't need the payout immediately. I can understand personal reasons for wanting the $$ immediately.....but don't understand that as a reason to stop selling........

OP2 weeks ago · EditedI haven't had a payout in a week. I have invoices and payroll to pay for, regardless of product I already have. I sell comics every day. I buy shipping labels every day. The post office doesn't deliver packages every day. I buy postage faster than packages are delivered so my funds are always in the negative. Like right now I have about $700 on hold. My available balance is -$125. That balance doesn't increase until packages are delivered, which is not something I can control. Im in CA so it may take 10 days before some packages deliver then those funds become available 2 days after. During that 12 days I'm still selling stuff every day and buying shipping labels so my available balance goes further into the negative. So the math doesn't math since I'm buying shipping labels faster than the post office is delivering packages. In order to get my available balance into the positive so I can get a payout, that means I have to stop buying shipping labels, which means I have to stop selling. I am essentially selling stuff and ebay gets to hold the money indefinitely.
