18 Weird & Suspicious Sales and Counting...
On November 30 I listed 4 different floral postcards with multiple quantities each. So far 18 of these have sold to 18 different new eBay buyers with most having 0 feedback and a few having 2 feedback. The eBay buyer name of the payer is different from the PayPal payer name. The same PayPal payer for 3 of the postcards shows the 3 eBay seller IDs as eBay shows in parenthesis after the PayPal name. So in 48 hours eBay has 18 new accounts with the eBay buyer name different from the PayPal payer name. Should eBay be worried?
While I was on the phone with eBay customer support 3 of these sales happened. However the rep said this was "normal" and new buyers could have someone else pay for them. Even though I almost never get a new buyer and all my previous new buyers paid on PayPal, it seems strange that I would get a large number of new buyers in 48 hours, none of whom paid for their item on PayPal but used 6 other payees. Is this happening to any other sellers?

OP5 years agoOf the 28 suspicious sales made from Dec. 1-Dec. 4 to new eBay accounts, I have more info on 3 of the sales. One postcard was returned by the USPS as "Not delivered as addressed. Unable to forward."
Two other "buyers" contacted me about receiving a postcard they did not order. Here's one of the messages:
"This week I received a postcard from you that I did not order. Where did you get my address and name from? The order number is 02-06186-53808 dated Dec-04-2020. If I don't hear back from you within a day or two, I will be reporting your account as a scam."
Both of these people had different eBay IDs from those showing on December purchases. The first was a member since May 2007 with a feedback of 14. The other was a member since June 2015 with a feedback of 4 and only 2 purchases in the past 12 months. I emailed each the new eBay ID used to purchase a postcard in their name and address. I also sent them the names of the other sellers which had left feedback for their "new eBay ID," 7 for one and 9 for the other new user ID. Both of these new user ID profiles say "No longer a registered user." Their original eBay IDs are valid and in good standing.

·3 years agoI have had the same issue with trading cards ( 12 single card orders from feedback less than 25) - Ebay told me to cancel the orders and block the buyers because you should not ship to an address or name that is different from the order - I now get back 1-2 orders per month with USPS stickers undeliverable - No Such Number -
I am almost to the point where i want to contact all the new buyers before shipping to verify it is their order -
