1099 K Details
Why does ebay only put she shipping labels we paid for from Fedex and UPS and NOT any of the USPS labels we bought through ebay on the 1099K detail? Don't they know since we all get a 1099K if over $600.00 no matter what that we need this information? It is absolutely absurd that we have to keep track of this ourselves for thousands of items. As if that isn't bad enough we cant even look up any labels after 90 days. This is thousands of dollars worth of legitimate write offs that even the smallest of sellers need to rectify their taxes. Another thing, the total on the 1099K includes only total sales and doesn't deduct any of the refunds so it isn't really the total. We sellers have to work very hard to source. clean. list. pack. and ship every single item. How about making the book keeping not as difficult as possible for us. It is as if you are in favor of the IRS getting more than their fair share by cheating us out of the real numbers attributed to our accounts.
Please fix this, you already have all the information it is probably a simple check in a box fix for us all to prosper together.

·6 months agoIt's absolutely absurd that you don't keep books!! You should KNOW and have recorded, every sale, item cost, fees paid, shipping paid etc. if you are doing 1000's of items!

·6 months ago@monkiedoodles,
Sorry, but your information is out of date.
From looking at some of your recent listings, you are located in Florida, and they follow the IRS guidelines for when a 1099-K must be issued. For the 2025 (and following) tax year(s), the IRS threshold has been raised back to "when the total amount of payments you receive for goods or services through the platform exceeds $20,000 in more than 200 transactions."

·6 months ago@monkiedoodles You do realize that even with all that eBay provides, there are many, many other things you can deduct that eBay does not know anything about. (e.g. supplies, home office, vehicle mileage, equipment).
There is some really good software out there that saves you the spreadsheets, downloads all the info from eBay, and allows you to keep track of all of your expenses. It is well worth the money because of the time it saves. Oh, and that is an expense you can deduct as well.

·6 months agoThe government designed the 1099 form, not ebay......... As said, there are places on ebay to find totals of individual expenses such as shipping.

·6 months agoAlthough, I am a new seller, just over a year, I advocate for personal responsibility in bookkeeping. I keep monthly breakdowns of all my income and deductible expenses.
Just saying.
Most importantly, find your happy🫶

·6 months agoThere are a lot of deductions and this is one of them.
Are you not doing deductions?
Your monthly wifi bill is a deduction times 12 months.
Your telephone bill (half of it) is a deduction times 12 months.
And so on.....

·6 months agoA 1099K if for income, the shipping labels you buy are an expense, so why would they be on a 1099K?

·6 months agoIt isn't for income, it is for all money recieved or processed.

·6 months agoYou can look up the Order Details for each transaction and it will have all the information about a transaction.
When you say 1099K detail are you looking at the 1099K Details Report?
The 1099K Details Report has all this information for each sale. If there is no Shipping Label fee indicated then that is because you did not purchase shipping thru eBay.

·6 months agoA 1099k isn't meant to track our business expenses. It doesn't have a total of our shipping costs that we pay out. It is used to report to the IRS payments we receive. Ebay offers many reports for things like our shipping labels. Personally I choose to print this information each month, but I'm sure yearly reports are available also. I track my expenses all year long.

·6 months agoYou don't need to do all this manually. EBAY has "easy to read" 1-page report that shows YTD totals for (orders, EBAY fees, refunds, shipping expense). Shipping Expense includes USPS, FedEx, UPS (any label purchased on EBAY). To print report go to PAYMENTS, REPORT (select LAST YEAR and 2025).
IRS requires that 1099 show "gross income" and you are required to keep track of all your expenses.
GROSS ORDERS
-EBAY fees
-Refunds
-Shipping expense
-Misc. expense (cost of goods, mileage, packing supplies, etc)

·6 months agoA 1099K, from eBay or any other source, tallies up ALL the money you received.
You have to deduct the refunds, payment for shipping labels, cost of goods and any other expense you incur.
