    If he gets a negative, it would show but the comment would be private and the item description would not show. It would not say 100% positive. So if that "sex toy " does not work, the buyer can post a negative and no would know what was the item if it's a private ad.

    He has all of the feedback from buying. Ebay doesn't separate it feedback from buying or selling.   This account has NEVER sold anything. If I start selling, it would show the feedback above and 100%.   And before someone writes, ONLY sellers can get negatives.

    Some sellers set their feedback to private because of what they sell. We don't know what you are looking at so cannot comment on the why's. Unless the seller has it set to automatically leave feedback for every sale, it is not automatic for every seller. Sellers can only leave positive feedback for their buyers.

    You can set your listings to private. But you can't set your feedback history to Private if you have any active listings.

    If he doesn't sell anything, how do you know he's a seller?

    Actually, since buyers cannot be given negative or neutral feedback, you wouldn't know anything about his record, even if he did have feedback.

    Keep in mind too, not all buyers leave feedback.

    Look at it this way instead:  Everyone STARTS with 100% because it wouldn't be fair to start everyone with 0% rating.

    Actually, anybody who has not gotten any feedback within the past  12 months shows as 0% feedback.

    Because they don't want anybody to back-track through their feedback to see what they have bought?  If you go to the feedback that a member has left, then look up that comment in the seller's feedback, you can see the listing title.

    Because they are buying sensitive items and they are worried the seller will leave feedback identifying that they bought seggs toys. Or fetish diapers. Or pink furry handcuffs.

    "Seggs toys" are not the ONLY item for which a buyer would prefer that his feedback be private.

    so he could really have 100% bad feedback if its marked private and a seller would think he is 100% positive.  correct?

    @mikalvon

    Not what I meant.  The OP seemed to describe someone with literally zero feedback, so that's how I answered.

    If they are just a buyer, ALL buyers have 100% Positive feedback, because they can ONLY receive Positive feedback.  No seller can leave Negative or Neutral feedback for a buyer.

    NO. 100% positive means 100% positive just like it says.
