Your Cost info
After a sale has been made, on the order page, where you can see your earnings, it would be nice if eBay could put in the Your Cost info as an expense, to show you what your "true" earnings are. It should be easy enough to carry over the amount from the original listing page. Just a thought to make the earnings figure as accurate as possible. Thanks.

·8 months agoIMO the cost field and any use of it is meaningless and unlikely to be of use to many Ebay sellers.
Per sale data is not necessary for taxes, and people who practice managerial accounting require more information than Ebay is likely to provide.
This is a minor convenience to sellers who are not number crunchers.
If Ebay wanted to help me, they could make it easier to track refunds, like removing them from sales totals.
And that would not be a high priority on my wish list.

·6 months agoIt may not help everyone, but certainly knowing what kind of ROI you have on items CAN be a valuable tool in gauging your buying and pricing practices after sales are made.
Say you do a lot with reselling dvds and mugs. You may know your expected markup/profit when you list, but somewhere along the line you do some promoting or discount offers to move some things. Once those sales are made, you can track to see if you're still making what you expected to on those items- maybe you have to decide not to promote, or increase your prices, or even stop selling those items. Without cost tracking, you can't properly do that. Again, not for everyone- but can be a valuable tool, just as some of the things you like have value to you.

·6 months agoWe do that in a spreadsheet, rather than relying on eBay tools. That also allows us to include a great deal more analysis in the process.

·8 months agoThat is an excellent idea! It's so misleading when they just post what the items sold for, but not all the fees, taxes and shipping that was taken out! I also don't understand why ebay holds your payments for 3 days after your item is delivered. I don't understand why they hold it at all and charge $2.00 fee for "immediate" deposit to your bank when deposit is anything but immediate.!

·8 months agoThe Your Cost field used to populate on the order details page in the financial summary. Are you sure the listing in question had your cost filled out @kennyjo ?
It's possible eBay changed the display because too many sellers thought Your Cost was an eBay fee. 🙄 But I didn't think it was changed when this feature re-launced in December.

OP8 months agoWhen you are filling in the listing specifics, and you get down to the price, there is a space for you to list "Your Cost" of the item. Buyer doesn't see this info.

How would eBay know your cost of an item you've sold? 🤔
