Seller Protection from fraudulent buyer
Summary: sam-wood-1 shared their frustration about a problematic transaction on eBay, where a buyer expected shipment for a local pick-up item and has been continuously sending harassing messages. Despite following eBay's guidance on leaving feedback, they received unwarranted negative feedback from the buyer and are unable to close their account due to an unresolved issue. Other participants, such as dbmm-media and shire123, suggested canceling the order due to address issues and blocking the buyer. arijitmandal advised focusing on the transaction evidence and handling it through eBay's dispute resolution process.
Weeks ago I sold a local pick-up only item and was informed, as in previous
local pickup sales, of the process. I sent the buyer a message to request his
pick up time. He responded by asking when and how I was going to ship his item.
He has since harassed me with multiple messages and requested a refund. About
a month later he continues the barrage of messages.
Despite being told that I could relist the item and provide negative feedback on
this scammer without retaliation what continues is more issues with this unchecked
buyer. I provided the appropriate feedback and eBay allowed this scammer to retaliate
with unwarranted negative feedback.
Finding no help from eBay, I attempted to close my account. Now I am faced with, I
can't close my account due to an unresolved issue. eBay HELP, HELP, HELP! Do your job!
Honor your buyer protection policy and your word. You only need to read the messages
between us and you will see clearly the injustice done.
Please correct your errors, pay me as your policy states and rid others from experiences
with this dangerous (mbato) M'Barek Touil buyer.

·4 days agoThe cleanest next step is to stop extending the message exchange and keep the order record complete.
Check the pickup status and the reason the buyer cannot collect.
Use the accurate cancellation reason if the transaction cannot be completed, then issue the refund through eBay.
Keep the messages and order details together; do not trade more feedback or make personal claims about the buyer.
Use the pickup record if eBay asks for it. The payment-dispute guidance treats successful delivery or pickup as relevant evidence, and the seller still needs to respond within the deadline shown in the dispute: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/payment-dispute-seller-protections?id=5293
That gives eBay something concrete to review and keeps the discussion about the transaction rather than the people involved.

·4 days agoIf the buyer can't pick up the item, cancel the order as a problem with the buyers address and refund the buyer.
The feedback you left the buyer is a policy violation.

·5 days agoHad this happened to me after getting the message from the buyer about requesting a refund, I would have immediately canceled the sale with the reason being problem with the address and blocked the buyer. Then relist the item.
There was no need to drag this out back and forth.
But ebay is right that you can't cancel your account. Even if you had refunded the order you still couldn't close out the account. Ebay accounts stay open for a number of months after a cancelation request just in case something else comes up with a previous sale.
