Seasoned Commission Seller within 1 Day Drive of Los Angeles
We're downsizing and looking for a seasoned eBay seller to handle selling some of our items. At this point, we have six medium sized tubs complete with detailed inventories for each.
Is there anyone within a day's drive of Los Angeles who is interested in helping? If so, I will immediately send you the tub inventories. I would expect to pay a 50% commission after deducting eBay fees. Thanks much.

·4 months agoI strongly recommend you pay a high school student a fare hourly wage to list your items, and fulfill your orders using your own Ebay account. This is within the capabilities of many young people, gives them something useful to do online, and encourages working for money.

·4 months agoA days drive? Hopefully the items would be valuable.
What others have opined as well as the price of gas and the nightmare of driving in L.A. for someone not used to it could be a deal killer if the items aren't going to make the other person significantly better off than before.
Then there's the possibility of a motel room if they drive some distance. I know in a day I can drive several hundred miles.
Maybe sell local or look for someone in L.A. or nearby to sell for you...........................

·4 months ago50 Percent after fees is fair , but the one thing if someone is willing to do this is you will have to wait for payment after eBay's 30 money back guarantee plus 180 days that the buyer has to file a dispute with his credit card provider
Anyone willing to do this would be out of their mind to pay you before 180 days have gone by. So if your willing to wait 6 months to get your money you might find someone. I myself would never ever sell anyone's items to many headaches

Yes you will have to wait to get paid, until the return window closes.
I think 50% is very fair. We all have to pay income taxes - that's the way it's always been. I don't think this justifies taking a higher commission than that, unless you are selling nickel and dime items.
I usually work with a 30% commission, and I find it's worth my time. And there is enough left to pay my fair share of taxes 🙂

·4 months agoYou mean 50% after FEES, SHIPPING COSTS, STATE INCOME TAX (for most), FEDERAL INCOME TAX, SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX.
So, item selling for $50 would mean about $10 for you and $10 for the seller.
And, you won't get PAID your percentage until 31 days AFTER delivery (due to 30 day MBG)

·4 months agoTo add to @klhmdg 's advice, you need to understand that the seller would also be liable to the IRS for any taxes from the income. Although they could deduct for their expenses and fees, they might need to hire and pay an accountant to do their taxes because these sales made their filing more complicated.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some of your items may take years to sell. Are you willing to wait that long? And are you willing to pay the seller for storing your stuff?
Since you have some experience as a seller, my advice to you is to photograph, describe, list, store, and sell your own items, keep the profits (or deduct the losses) and be in charge of your business.

·4 months ago...and as you say more complicated, I think the "seller" would have to file a 1099 on the original owners if they sent them money, otherwise the "seller" would be paying income tax on the entire amount. These deals are never worth it. The original owner is best to just off load the items and be done with them if they don't have the time to list and sell

·4 months agoYou will not find many sellers willing to do this.
There are many issues with this -
Sellers pay not only fees but income tax on sales.
There is a lot of work in selling. You must know this or you would create your own account and sell your stuff.
Your stuff could be listed for years and never sell but the seller would need to store your items.
eBay has a 30 day MBG. Once sold and shipped, the buyer has 30 days at receipt to file a return request for their money back. Would you be willing to pay return shipping fees?
I cant imagine selling someone elses items and only getting 50% when I did all the work.
Set up your own account and sell OR just put it all up on your local Market Place and sell as a lot and be done with it.
