Help with Offers
I've spent 30 minutes on this so far -- to no avail.
I have an auction with no Buy It Now, just a reserve price set. I received an Offer for significantly higher than the reserve. When I went to respond, the Offer is listed as Declined, though I did not do this.
Why did this happen? Why would an offer for 3x the reserve price of an auction be automatically declined?
I cannot find, after AI, YouTube, and searches, ANY way to see what my offer settings are.
Any help? Thanks so much.

·8 months agoSomething doesn't seem right. If you had a reserve, I personally would have bid what I felt what it is worth. If I thought it was worth $100.00. I would bid $100 dollars and if I didn't meet the reserve, I would be the high bidder at your opening bid Why would I make you an offer, if you have a reserve?

OP8 months ago@lacemaker3 thanks so much for your reply. I understand now: the offers were rescinded as soon as the very first bid was placed. Too bad I wasn't quick enough to accept an offer at 3x the current bid!
Many thanks,
Lyle

I see two auction listings on your account, but neither of them have a reserve price set (according to the source code for the page, they are both: "hasReservePrice":false . So neither auction has a reserve price.
However, one of them has a Buy It Now price set, and the other one has received a bid which was placed about 20 hours ago, yesterday, about one hour after the 5-day listing was started, and several hours before you asked this question. (The BIN price is always removed when the bidding starts, if there was a BIN price).
According to the purchase history, there were 3 offers made on that listing, by 3 different buyers, before the bid was placed.
The chance to make an offer is only there until the bidding starts. When the first bid was placed, all pending offers were declined. That's how it works, when there is make-an-offer on an auction format listing.
Congratulations, when this happens, there is a strong chance that the auction will end with a bidding war, or multiple snipers.

·8 months ago@mtgraves7984 may be onto something. I recall someone posting about this issue a few months back. I think the general consensus was that the seller was seeing where a buyer had declined an offer. I wish I could come up with that thread to link to it, but it has been while and I don't remember who responded. I don't think I did, because I never set a reserve on the rare occasion I do an auction and don't know much about it. I do recall reading about this issue in a thread.

@don_cognacchio
Could it be an Offer that you previously made to a potential buyer that they declined? 🤔
