eBay Store Traffic Reports Now Available In Seller Hub
It looks like eBay is rolling out Store traffic reports in Seller Hub where you can track total visits to your store or narrow it down to paid visits if you use Promoted Display ads for Stores.
Here's what it looks like:
You can do a timeframe from this year, this quarter, this month, last week or last 31 days.
And you can also choose to narrow it down to just Promoted visits.
@my-cottage-books-and-antiques - I know you'll be happy about this one!

·2 years agoCan I view where the visitors are coming from? eg: add on what site?
On one of my listings, visitors are up 176%, where have all these extra visitors seen my add?
It can't be just a click-through from an eBay search phrase!

·3 years agoOmniture had my favourite feature, and that was a pie chart showing percentage of new and returning buyers, and frequency of returning buyers - I found that almost half of my store traffic was from people who would check my store every 1 to 3 days, and another maybe 20% was from people who were at least weekly visitors. That meant that it would work best for me to list daily or nearly daily and always have something for that 65% or so of people who visited my store on a regular basis.

·3 years agoI'm not surprised it rolled out with the launch of store ads, and I'm also not surprised (though I am disappointed) at the lack of info.
I want to see how many store visits were through listings, how many were from a QR code, etc.
And what pages are they visiting? Store home page, about page, clicking beyond that?
What about unique visitors?
What about when a buyer clicks feedback on a listing, does that qualify as a store visit since, after going through the redirect at the bottom of the listing, it takes you to the store feedback page and not the full on feedback page?
In my opinion, those store feedback page visits should not count since the buyer isn't looking at your listings.
If eBay reads this discussion, please tell us:
The filter for "this year" means this calendar year, not the past 12 mos. What happens on January 1st - do we start over with no visibility to 2023, or will eBay add another filter for "last year"? Better yet: will eBay add a filter for a custom date range and a downloadable report option (even if not using store ads)?
This is an early launch and tools like this are usually released in stages so we should see more bells and whistles in 2024.
I suppose we'll get a few more details in the Fall Seller Update. I'm still guessing at an Oct 4th release for the next update. The week after eBay Open like last year.

OP3 years agoThose are all excellent questions @wastingtime101 !
Hopefully @devon@ebay @kyle@ebay or @elizabeth@ebay can get out some more details after the holiday weekend.

Hey @valueaddedresource and @wastingtime101 those are indeed some great questions! I suspect you are spot on, Wastingtime101, that we'll get more info in the eBay Open and/or the Fall Seller Update, so stay tuned for those! We'll still try to hunt down some answers in the meantime and keep you updated with anything we find though.

OP2 years ago@kyle@ebay just revisiting this since we did not, to my knowledge, get answers to @wastingtime101 's excellent questions from either eBay Open or the Fall Update.
Were you able to track down more information?
kyle@ebay
Hey @valueaddedresource and @wastingtime101 I haven't received any new info yet, but I'll be sure to share any updates I get!

As I said in my post, I too would love to see more granularity in the store traffic report.
Unfortunately, as I also said, the ONLY reason we have this report at all is because it ties in with the PL Display ads functionality. I asked for store traffic reporting ever since they revamped the stores a couple years ago, and .... nothing.
So, I'm not getting my hopes up. This graph is called "Store Traffic" but it could just as well be called "PL Display Traffic"
ebay has had several years to give us real store traffic reports, but as far as I can see , ebay has once again consigned stores to the basement....stores should be the crown jewel of the site, with robust stores that make even standalone stores like Shopifys look like also rans, but it's pretty clear ebay doesn't see it that way.
So, while I would love to see a really detailed stores traffic report...and I'm convinced ebay has the data and wherewithal to provide it....I am resigned to the idea that ebay feels giving us that sort of information might lessen our reliance on ads, and so....not going to happen.
But, I'll keep hoping....

·3 years ago@valueaddedresource Thanks---yes, I am definitely happy. This is long overdue. And I am not entirely surprised : I've been asking for this for a long time, but have also said I didn't expect to see it until they had monetized ebay store traffic...and now, with the Display Ads, they pretty much need to do this to track the ad activity. Just like the only reason they stopped counting bots is because bots interfered with the count for PL Advanced.
I haven't really had a chance to look at this very closely, I hope they define their terms and add granularity as time goes on.
It's also interesting that we can go back, what , a year? So as I've been saying , they have had the data available internally, but they wouldn't share it with us until this tied in with Promoted Listings.
So, while I AM happy about this, sadly, it's also evidence that at ebay, the tail still wags the dog.

As far as definitions:
Visits: This number is the total number of visits to any of the pages that are part of your eBay Store.
Visits from promoted ads: The number of visits to your Store from Promoted Display ads campaigns.
Also looks like they have ~3 day lag time built in (chart today goes up to August 29) - so @simply-the-best-for-you maybe eBay has finally figured out that 72 hour "near real time" thing 😂

·3 years ago@valueaddedresource Thanks---I did see those definitions, but what I meant was: just how does ebay define "any of the pages that are part of your store"? Given that, as far as we know, a buyer clicking on the thumbnail of a Display Ad will be taken that item's View Item Page (and NOT the store's ebay category page), is ebay considering any view item page to be a "store page"?
We could use more details here, and I agree with everything @wastingtime101 and @chapeau-noir said: we could use more granularity here, and maybe that is in the works, but it would be nice to hear some details from the ads team about this.
I have said many, many times, just as one example, that if ebay actually wants sellers to create store videos, ebay needs to provide traffic details that show us whether people actually view the videos....
So, I see this as a long overdue start, but only a start. I really hope there is more to come. Hopefully, the community team will get us some answers, or there will be more details (and improvements) at ebay Open.

·3 years agoeBay's innovations are almost always pretty rough to begin with (or have a rough start), so I'm seeing this as something that will be developed more as time goes on.
